Had a great day yesterday. I kicked the kit up (all three birds I'm still flying!) and they were doing great when a cooper came in low under them. I thought on no, here we go again. Was half a min and crow was on that cooper beatin the tar out him! What a sight, what a joy! It was like inner city gang banger meets the mob! I love my crows! The roller just kept on flyin like nothing was going on. The Cooper left ASAP! Spud

Hey Spud, For years I had heard stories about crows(Ravens) being protective of thier turf and helpful to us roller guys by chasing away bop's, but I never believed it til I witnessed it first hand. On two recent occasions my resident pair saved a good roller from the clutches of a cooper, the last time the subject happened to be a 25ft. fast hen I had put backout to spice up my comp. kit. Man was I elated when right before me the crows jump right on the back of the cooper and seemed to be trying to claw the bastard. Now I encourage them to stay around by putting out bread and water and offering up some pigeon eggs once in a while. I wish I could get a pair of baby ravens and and train them to protect the rollers. Now just 882 more posts until I get my RPDC hat -Oh Yeah! Otis

I live in the middle of the rookery Otis, so I have quite "gaggle" of crows. Good idea to throw out some egg for them. I'll give that a try. Wish they would stay aroudn all year. Maybe some cat food! Spud

I've seen crows chase off a lot of BOP's. Unfortunately, they aren't fast enough for the peregrines..lol Good story.
