I was looking through a Foy's and Jedds catalog and noticed the various prices of individual seeds that are smaller than grains of milo.

....well anyway

After doing a price comparison I felt it would be more economical to stick with the Spectrum 28 oz. (793.8 grams) brand of Canary & Finch Food marketed by DRK Products LLC of Colorado. There are seven different seeds that come in a bright orange plastic bag. I buy this Spectrum 28 oz. bag at a local 99 Cents store. Hmm... now that could be a major factor contributing to my cost savings.

These small seeds are put in both Breeders & Flyer mixes and have really helped my birds to look, feel, and perform their ultimate best. The plumage of my birds are much glossier than the average Birmingham roller and I've attributed that to the time and energy I spend trying to scientifically mix so many different feed concotions together.

SPECTRUM C & F INGREDIENTS:
1) Golden German Millet
2) Red Proso Millet
3) Canary Grass Seed
4) White Proso Millet
5) Oat Groats
6) Rape Seed
7) Flax Seed
*********************************
*********************************
Spectrum C & F Bird Food Analysis:
Crude Protein......6.9% Min.
Crude Fat..........3.3% Min.
Crude Fiber........7.7% Max.
Moisture............15% Max.

MEMO: If you can't find this then I suggest buying the Hartz brand of Parakeet Feed to add to your pigeon mix. It's about $1/pound, which isn't the most expensive, nor the cheapest bird seed out there.

In terms of nutritional analysis, this feed has a minimum crude protein 13%, minimum crude fat 5%, maximum crude fiber 10%, and moisture minimum 12%. The ingredients contain white and red millet, oat groats, canary grass seed, rape seed, ground corn, ground wheat, dehulled soybean meal, soybean oil, corn gluten meal, dicalcium phosphate, brewers dried yeast, cane molasses, dried egg product, salt, and a bunch of vitamins, dried bacterial extracts, minerals, plant extracts and amino acids.

I give that to my Canaries and Keets, but the kit birds get wheat.

I give my kit birds straight wheat also. However, different climates can cause certain families of birds to react differently to their feed.

You ever heard of Yo-Yo Feeding? Of course you have!

...well

I created "Bunji Feeding"... named after Bunji Jumping.

Ever heard of trying to breed nothing but Champions?

I eat show pigeons. Hate'em in my lofts & pens!

Don't like my birds with muffs, feather feet, hoods, crests, fantails and other miscellaneous pigeon pagentries.

Marcus, what does the name of a feed have to do with your particular distain for anything other than a roller?

Obviously you don't know what that feed mix is.

Ooops... I apologize. Folks around the gym (and my wife) have been telling me that I've been acting rather aggressively lately.

I'm taking a muscular enhancing supplement by SAN called Full Impact Bolt Myoxx Cell Duplicator. It's a revolutionary post work-out formula high performance drink featuring the patented metabolic technology known as "Myoxx Cell Duplicator".

Proprietary Matrix of Myoxx: (Alanyl-L-Glutamine Dipeptide, Trimethylglycine, Guanidhopropionic Acid (GPA), Putrescine Dihydrochloride, S-Adenosyl-L-Methionin, Biotin).

{P.S.} Good stuff for your guns after a grueling pump!

I'll try to cool it down a notch.

It's okay Val. We are only human... and subject to malfunctions from time to time (mental & physical).

But can ya give it to rollers? I get sore just watching the world strongest man competetion on ESPN.

Long ago I was into bodybuilding and working out.7 years ago as a matter of fact. Now my shoulders are shot along with my knees. I sure do enjoy getting old.
That`s why all my helpers are under 25 and pretty strong young men.

Yea, I had knee surgery last summer. I was hurting all over, figured that I was eat up with arthritis, runs in the family. My elbows were to the point that some days I couldn't lift a gallon of milk from the ice box without using both hands. Last fall when I started reading about apple cider vinager, I decided to try it for myself. First month, I thought it was a joke, but I kept at it and soon I started noticing a differnce. I've been at it 4 or 5 months now, and I don't really hurt anywhere anymore. I try to drink a bottle of water, twice a day with a shot of vinager in it.Sucked at first, but I can't stand straight water anymore! I've even started jogging again!

The reason I started the acv was my blood pressure. Started taking medicine back in my 20s. Starting to have the BIG side affect from the meds, so I was looking for an alternitive. It worked, haven't taken my blood pressure pills for 3 or 4 months now. My blood pressure is perfect! The ole side affect is gone, everything works again! Lifes good!Hee hee

Wierd, ain't it?

Now if I could only get my hair to thicken back up!

NOW......can we get back to the matter at hand. I think its about some feed mixture as I recall. Or was it the steroid factor???? Sounds like a bunch of children at the playground. Get back to the bird issues

Hee Hee, dido! Anyways, for you older guys that are having aches and pains and blood presssure problems. I think it is important info to pass on! If it helps one person out there, I'm glad I brought it up! We need to keep ourselves healthy right along with our birds. By the way, my birds have never been heathier sinc I've started using ACV! Some of you may remember what a problem I had with canker last year, not one case this year!

There you go Paul, I referred it back to the birds! Kiss for ya big guy!

Just wondering. Has anyone around here ever tried giving their kit birds nothing but straight Canary & Finch feed (and maybe a little grit) for a day or 2 then flying the birds?

NOTE: I'm thinking about an experimental plan featuring such things as listed above.

Again... this is the 7 Seed Canary & Finch mixture I use;

1) Golden German Millet
2) Red Proso Millet
3) Canary Grass Seed
4) White Proso Millet
5) Oat Groats
6) Rape Seed
7) Flax Seed

I fed a commie pigeon in the food mall an entire medium order of french fries. He ate them all. I saw him or what looked to be the same bird a week later, so I doubt that canary mix would steer them in the wrong direction...lol

LMAO, Brian I think commies could live quiet well on muddy water and nothing else. Probably our birds could too.

Commie Pigeons?

Are you referring to the Rock Pigeon (Columba Livia) once known as Rock Doves or Common Pigeon?
