that pretty much sums it up. I got an old hen that I found on the floor tonight ,seems to be unable to walk. both legs are not working. I put her in an empty kitbox right away. When I went to the other loft with the jaconettes I noticed anouther bird looking week and maybe unstable on its feet. It is also removed from the rest of my birds. I just came in and left Tony a message. any Ideas and Med options Please. Thanks so much, ...Butch

Get them on a 4n1 or 5n1. Probably paratyphiod. Could be calcium deficiency but more than likely the paratyphoid. Joe ---------- J.M.Urbon Lofts A Proven Family of Spinners http://www.freewebs.com/jmurbonlofts/

I agree with Joe..seperate them from the rest of the birds and put them on 4 in 1 and if that does not work...try the calcium. Hope it works out.

You have mice infestation in and around your loft. Get to the root of the problem or you will end up distroying all your birds.
Set traps for the mice. Remove the feed and water at night. Clean any feed spills around the loft.
While mice feed they poop, leaving their dropping around the feed. Pigeons consume the droppings thinking they are grains and the problem of sick birds starts. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I talked to Tony today and am ordering meds in just a minute. I only had some terramiacin and was in a darn near panic last night. mixed that up with water and dunkad the birds heads in it before putting them in an empty kitbox.I fully expected the one older hen to be dead this morning but was surprised to find her walking and even flying about the box like normal. Will still med them all just in case but maybe a false alarm. I`m not sure, but I know something was wrong.
I havent seen any mice but I will also put out traps just to be on the safe side. I never had anything like this before so forgive me if I overreacted. Again, thanks for the input guys.
And a big thanks to Tony who called me this morning. I dont know how my message sounded on his answering machine but He got back to me ,had all sorts of information and options, gave me his opinion, and didnt make me feel pigeon stupid. Wow! Hats off to ya Tony !!! Thanks. I`ll let ya know how this turns out.

sundance I had that problem with a stock hen a couple of weeks ago the hen did not want to walk. I gave the hen some calcium tablets for three days and she is like it never happened. I am not saying that's your problem but its just a thought. Make sure you give them plenty of oyster shell grit.
