Well, after having the other 2 almost filled, I thought I better get to building more.

If there were things you would do differently to your kitboxes, what would it be..I am hoping to get opinions before I complete this one.

The unit is 8' wide, 42" deep, and split down the middle. The front is 48" high, and the back is 38" high.

Thanks for the input

Jerry,
You might consider making the short side (38") side the front, that would give you more perch space and enable you to veiw the birds on top from the front more easily.
Just a thought.

I agree with Ron. I'd put the short side on the front. That's how mine are and it tends to help the birds move down-hill towards the front of the loft and trap as opposed to climbing up-hill and having to lip over the edge to get down to the landing board. You can always see them better this way also, (BOP, etc.). I also agree it helps with perch placement and number of perches you can get inside the kitbox.

I would suggest getting plastic Newcastle perches from Roller-Pigeon.Com. Easy to clean with a scraper or hosedown.

LOL Tony,
you make a good salesman..Need to get ya your mask, and grab some of those perches then....

My other kitbox I put the short side towards the front, and the only problem I have is when it is raining, and I am out there, the water runs in my direction...Guess i could install gutters..

I plan on putting 25 perches in each side, with the traps on the sides like my last ones. Seems to work well for me from the side, and that way I dont have to worry about the training cage being in the way if I need to open the door, etc.

I picked up the 1/2 X 1" wire for the floor, so gonna try to put that in shortly, if the rain lets up.
