No matter where ya look, in any pigeon breed, there is non stop talk about who uses what in the water, and how much..
Does anyone still use just plain ol' water?

I use plain `ol water also, unless I plan to mix with pigeon builder or any meds... I have well water and am under the impression that well water will counteract most meds and make them ineffective. Does anyone else know of this, maybe in more detail, as my fix for the problem is to buy distilled water every week or so to mix. People come over and see the bottled water in the loft and think I`m nuts.....LOL...............Butch

I use plain old water most of the time. I will give the birds electolytes during the summer once a week....ACV once a week. The rest of the time it is just water. When I prepare for a comp..I will use red cell as part of my training prep....I also use Pro Bios every now and then.

I just use plain tap water brought to our taps via the lake district pure as it comes with additional chlorine added by the water suppliers.

Multivitamins now and again.

If your birds have a good source of food ,Clean grit, and water.
These are the basic needs for all your birds to keep healthy and active.

Problems occur when you start bringing birds from here there and everywhere.

Tripp,

I wouldn't medicate that often, their bodies will quit responding to the meds. Thats why doctors don't give us antibiotics unless were sick! I would also throw some probiotics in there if your gonna contiue to med that often! JMO Their your birds though!

Plain water, 100% of the time. I lie - the birds always manage to get crap and feathers in their drinkers. So, what I really use is clean water, with the occasional addition of turd and feather. It clearly works as only one bird a week dies.

Plain water 6 days, one day pro-bios.
In real hot weather will use a tblsp. of bleach(plain clorox) no whiteners or stuff.

Lol Shaun
Ive heard you have no virgin water in London i believe it has been recycled through the sewers and been at least through 20 peoples bodies before you get it. Is this true Shaun?. So if the the answer to the question is true recycled water is what you use Shaun with the occasional turd and feather Lol.

Wayne, clearly Wigan is a sophisticated town if it has its own sewer system. London's burst decades ago, but people grew accustomed to just going anywhere it suited them, so now they wouldn't have it any other way. When I visit my French house, I note that the local monsieurs are very much the same, in that the humble latrine - or pissoir, to use the correct terminology - is still very much in evidence. The typical Frenchman will point Percy at the porcelain (or perhaps a tree by the roadside) and merrily wave at passers by.

This casual approach to toilet matters has filtered down (of you pardon the pun) to our little feathered friends, which are in abundance both in London and France. Over the years, I've observed that French and London pigeons don't need all those poncey water additives. They're hard, man.

I take vitamins everyday and I am sure I am benefited; my birds take vitamins everyday and I am sure they are benefited. It is all about what you believe.

I spike the water everyday. I rarely have sick birds. The last sick bird I had ended up being a tumer in the wing.

I never thought about the vampire problem using garlic. I have just been using sun light and artificial sun light to keep them at bay.
