I use moth balls they work great for mice, rats, and snakes.
Don,t use them in the loft were birds can eat them, use them out side. I use them to keep snakes away.

Cats! 2 or 3 hungry cats ought to take care of your rodent problem!

Just kidding! Moth balls, cut up some panty hose and put a few in and tie them off so they don't fall out. make a few of these and place them around the floor and in cracks and crevises. Even throw some around the outside if no children or pets will bother them!

I have a friend that claims this works well for him, if no better solutions come up, holler, and I will write him for better details! He says it helps with snakes also!

I too use mothballs for snakes and my cat sleeps under the pigeon loft have only seen one snake and then I got the mothballs and have not seen another my floor on my loft is 1" expanded metal so the seed that my birds drop
goes to the ground and that is where the cat comes in to play I did not train the cat to sleep there or hang out
there that is just where she stays and I have not seen any droppings or the acctual mouse. Only thing I have a problem with this year is slugs!!!! So I have put a lot of salt and slug granuels out this year as well.

But all in all the mothballs should work just fine!!

Thanks Tripp

there is a mouse trap that traps them alive. It has a rotating wheel inside which allows you to catch up to i think 8 mice without removing the trap..When it gets full, or you want to discard the captured mice, you just open the back lid and out they come....
Dump them into a bucket filled with water..works great.

Hey Tripp Muscovy Ducks love slugs.

I take the mice out in a big open area and let them all out at once and shoot them with a bb gun any body that gets away gets to keep on living. I have seen some traps that can hold 16 mice at a time.

Had rats getting into the catch tray under my kitboxes last winter.Trapped a few but they were stealing the bait more times than I was trapping them so finally went to the drugstore and bought some rat poison. That fixed 'em.Build a little house with bricks or something heavy they can get into but dogs and birds can't.Put the bait in there.

Most rat and mouse poison is not very poisonous to dogs and cats but are very poisonous to birds and fish I don't use poison because my chickens and ducks will eat the dead mouse and then get sick. My ducks love mice.

My kids would think Christmas come early, if I started leaving beer around the yard! I don't think you could buy cheap enough beer to keep em out of it! LOL Even if it had a few slugs in it, they'ed think it was aguave worms!

They get that from their mothers side, of course!

Val, that is funny!!! but it is the most economical way to combat slugs. Their weakness is BEER. They know how to have a buzz I think.

We have them bad especially in the last few years. After the rain, you can not walk on the yard, walkways or steps without stepping on them. Some of them are 6 inches long. We used a few pounds of salt until an old lady, my mother neighbor told me about it and it works excellent. So, I am sharing the trick with everybody who has this problem.

I was always told never waste beer even cheap beer. I bet the ducks are cheaper I can get a pair for $10 and they only eat a $7 bag of whole corn every few months and when you get ducklings you can sell them and then buy cheap beer LOL. Hey Tripp if you ever come by NC I can give you some ducks. You could always step on them :S LOL.

I'm glad you didn't take me serious, Jay! Long day at work, sometimes it helps to just refuse to let it get to me! Never had a slug problem here! Might get to be with all the rain we've had this year.Thinkin about stocking up on the beer just in case! LOL Been feelin a little "sluggish" myself lately!
