I have had a respritory issue from my birds...I was cleaning the loft and I put my mask on my head and was standing upwind and dumped a bucket full of shit in the garbage can....the wind changed and all the dust went right in my face...and I inhaled some of the crap...I had a dry cough for about 8 days and then it started hurting when i would breathe in.
I was diagnosed with pigeon chlamidya in my lungs...the doctor gave me the same antibiotic that they use for the STD or sexually transmitted disease and It was gone in like 2 days.....you could try that and see what happens.
As far as pigeon lung goes...that is more of a chronic issue...it will not go away as long as you have pigeons...or if it is bad enough you will have it for the rest of your life.
I would seek advice of a doctor and tell them to give you the antibiotic used for Chlamydia and see if that knocks it down...if it does then you know that it was a bacteria infection..if it does nothing...then try wearing a Good quality Repirator when you go into your loft.

A very good friend of mine developed this a couple of years ago from pigeons and quail. His case was pretty severe resulting in partial removal of one of his lungs. Since the surgery he has recovered and has no issues now. It is believed his case was worsened by the fact he was a heavy smoker for 15 years prior. In my friends case the symptoms were masked by what he thought were issues from smoking.
Histoplasmosis
What is histoplasmosis?
Histoplasmosis is a disease caused by the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum. Its symptoms vary greatly, but the disease primarily affect the lungs. Occasionally, other organs are affected. This form of the disease is called disseminated histoplasmosis, and it can be fatal if untreated.
How is someone infected with H. capsulatum?
H. capsulatum grows in soil and material contaminated with bat or bird droppings. Spores become airborne when contaminated soil is disturbed. Breathing the spores causes infection. The disease is not transmitted from an infected person to someone else.
What are the symptoms of histoplasmosis?
Most infected persons have no apparent ill effects. The acute respiratory disease is characterized by respiratory symptoms, a general ill feeling, fever, chest pains, and a dry or nonproductive cough. Distinct patterns may be seen on a chest x-ray. Chronic lung disease resembles tuberculosis and can worsen over months or years. The disseminated form is fatal unless treated.
When do symptoms start?
If symptoms occur, they will start within 3 to 17 days after exposure; the average is 10 days.
Is histoplasmosis treatable?
Yes. Antifungal medications are used to treat severe cases of acute histoplasmosis and all cases of chronic and disseminated disease. Mild disease usually resolves without treatment. Past infection results in partial protection against ill effects if reinfected.

All of the above information is from the CDC site, hopefully they won't mind me posting it as long as its referenced.

Ron,
Not to bad, just had 14 rollers born over the weekend. The dogs are doing great just giving them time off for the summer after hitting all the spring field trials. Will probably start working on conditioning for the fall trials and Nationals in a few weeks. I've got a 14 week old male(Indy) were starting out, a 1 yo female(River) that will really be focusing on this fall and my top female(Roxie) will age out of Derby Sept 25. If all works out with the American Field Western Championship we might take a trip out to Utah and see if we can't win that with Roxie.
Thanks for asking...how's things been on your end?
