All right how about some ideas on recruiting new flyers. I would like to have a few flyers closer by. Haven't had anyone with more than a passing interest. How about some suggestions on where to find candidates?--------- Ron Borderline lofts

Flying birds only won't cut it.
Newbies at club flys can only be considered secondary recruits. Someone has already sparked their interest. You have to be very vocal about what we do. Whenever I get a chance, I talk about them. People you think wouldn't be interested in them in a million years, sometimes perk up and find the topic absolutely fascinating. Whenever someone asks me what I do for fun, sure I could say Basketball, fishing and all that stuff, but I never mention them. I say all I like to do on my spare time is raise Birmingham Rollers. Trust me, it will turn into a long conversation...LOL

Get the attention of the young kids. They are the key to this hobby going to the next generation. Then once you have their attention give a few birds to them. You will be surprised at how quickly interest will grow C.J.

Ron, as Milo stated, the most effective way to get the interest of those around you, is to talk all positive things about the BR to them. If they show an interest, and you trust them at your residence, then invite them over. I have been fortunate to have 3 seperate gentlemen over the past 2 weeks. All of them were interested in the life of the roller, but none are willing to except the challenge of raising. I would never push my hobby on someone else, but would show them the goods, and let them decide..Never know, you may get some interested candidates. Good Luck!
