Is this insectacide delivery system harmful with pigeons? I never used them in California, but it is a different story in Arkansas. Many, many, many more insects in Arkansas compared to California. Mosquitos are plentiful here.....I am told it is the state bird.

Help!

I thought my squeaks had escaped their training cage, just turned out to be the mosqitoes were swarming!LOL

We are something like 20" above our average rainfall for this time of year! Doesn't seem to matter, anytime of day or night, their out and hungry!

Thought about treating the yard, but the vapors will be strong for a couple of days. Hate to harm the birds! Used to use diazanon (sp) granules, before I had birds!

Any suggestions?

Sounds like Belize.Lived there 5 1/2 years in the 90s but had sandflies big time too. They sprayed Malathion all over the Caye I lived on but it didn't seem to help much.Remember riding my bicycle out to my house in the evening and was fine till I got off the bike then had to RUN up the stairs into the house and brush all the mossies off quick like.National bird there too!!Here on Gabriola worst we get is fruitflies and wasps in summer.

I have a pond and a stream in the woods, I just use Muscovy Duck they will go down to the stream once a day and clean it out and bats lots of bats try getting some bat boxes, bats eat a lot of mosquitoes. Or you could get Guinea hens they eat every thing they find they love ticks, I have a lot of ticks and have been looking for a pair.

Hey belle,

I have already got a plan for housing some bats. I am putting a cupalo on top of my out-building and sloting it to take on some bats. It will also serve as a vent and will be built for poop clean out and thin-out from the inside.

Maybe a purple martin house or two wouldn't hurt! Their big mosquito eaters!

Put some ceder wood shavings in the loft floor or the breeder cages. Keep changing it on a weekly basis. You can buy a big bag of Ceder bedding from the pet store for around $5. Works best. Also use flys strip that you can purchase from wal mart. It catches all kind of flys.
