Here is my thought, safely trap it as to bring it no harm, place it in a nice cat carrier and set it on the nieghbors porch with a note saying next time it can be picked up at the local animal shelter.

Be sure to feed and water it before you place it on the porch. Think about putting an adorable pink bow on it just to make it clear how you love cats. Good luck.

My dog does a great job at keeping them away from the yard, but for the persistant ones, I use a live trap myself, then I use a relocation plan that I devised, works very well for me so far!

However, my next door neighbor, has a cat that he is very, very fond of, and he is a good neighbor, and has been positive about my birds living next door.I have learned to deal with it, and so far the problem has been minimal, two birds that I know of! We've discussed it and he knows my birds are only out for a short time and he will put the cat in for awhile in the evenings.

I will go out of my way to show respect if others will show an effort also!

catch the cat in a haverhart trap and put a water hoes on it for while .That does the trick most of the time. I have done this a few time with cats that tryed to get my birds. i still see the cats but never in my yard any more. now most of the cats have too watch out for the coyotes. they run around here in packs. they just love them cats.

When you told her and she said "well I am to lazy to do any thing" that is when you bring it to the animal shelter. She is responsible for her cat and what her cat kills, I would make her pay for the birds that the cat has killed.

Were talking about cats not dogs. I bet if you talk to your animal control officer. You will find there are many rules pertaining dogs and not very many for cats. One big one is . A cat owner dont have to have control over there animal out in public like a dog owner. And cats kill more rabbits then dogs.

budharley.......get a DOG, perhaps one from your local aminal shelter. Make up nice living quarters for it out near the birds and not only have YOU saved your birds but, also the life of a condemned dog.

Good one Paul , not only saved a dog but will have an awsome companian wheh out with the birds.
I have a little female lab that can't wait to get in the loft with me everyday, sure she's a pain in the ass as we fight for elbow room when the kitbox is open as she wants to mouth every bird that she can get a hold of ,and slobbers them up , but I don't think that I would have it any other way.

Scott,
I hear you buddy. My dog loves the birds. She feels it is her job to keep them off the ground and out from under the kitbox. She is pretty protective of my birds. They are her herd. Haven`t had a cat attack yet and I see the ferals in the field all the time.
A mama was toting a kitten into the neighbors garage yesterday afternoon. Somehow I don`t see the guy as "cat person". Probably a few less ferals in the `hood this morning.
Still got that killer cocker spaniel? She is the one to watch out for. Bet she could lick you to death quick time. LOL

Cool dog Rudy, but kind of girly LOL I would end up picking it out of a horse's hoof. LOL I hate to have to watch my pigeon with the hawks, I would not want to have to watch that "dog" that is the same size as a pigeon. LOL
