If the "Brian" was Brian McCormick it would be Horner. ---------- Snicker Rollers

Do you need another cock bird? I've crossed my Horner and Reed birds in the past with good success. One of my best producing hens is from one of those crosses. They are both Jac-based.

what does every body think of the black rain family?

The Black Rain family is like any other family, for the most part it changes as the times change. There are good and bad in EVERY family. There are breeders that have tried to keep a strain as pure as possible, but over time, they get out of birds, and the birds get bred to another family, etc.. If your happy with any family, then stay with them.

Black Rain has no impact on any birds a person is flying today. I have pedigrees with BR on them waaaaaaaaay back but that means nothing. In the time I have had this particular family of birds, I have changed them and moved them in a different direction as opposed to the birds I started working with. BR was a novel pigeon, just like 514.

thank you guys for your imput. i have had birds since i was 12 and i think they are what kept me out of trouble as a kid lol. but as time went on i got in to a club here in oklahoma it was called PRO (performing rollers of oklahoma)and it was fun my first fly i won. i started out with some of richard jaconette birds. i got them around 1987 and like you guys said i got out of them and times change and i fought chickens for about 5 years and then they out lawed them here so i am back to flying my rollers i have about 4 of my old birds left and i have some of danny horners birds but they say a smart man changes his mind 6 times and a fool never does lol so here i am flying some deep birds. well i guess i will talk to you guys later.

Dooley is my partner in crime! It works pretty well, since his wife has a bail bonds service! LOL We talk weekly, and he has helped me alot! He came up last night and watched my birds and helped me with suggestions and ideas! He has got some positive response from some of his old friends about getting a club going again here. I encouraged him to check out this site, with some input from you guys, we might just be able to make a go at it! We've got several flyers around the state, we just need to get a spark going!
Welcome to the site, Jeff!

A club in your area sounds like a great plan Val,Jeff.... Let me know when it gets started and I will drive that way and watch some "good" birds.
Welcome to the site Jeff. More knowledgeable guys here than any other forum.
