finally have internet so I'm back in the forums now, but since I've been away I've been busy reading about these rollers called kit masters, now i'm not sure of what a kit master is and all so what is it? What I am trying to say is, how do you identify a kit master? is it a trigger bird?

you are correct.
A kit master/trigger bird is one that flies towards the front, flapping his wings together, while waving a pair of handcuffs for all to see, while saying "Now ladies and gentlemen, when you see me having an uncontrollable seizure, I want you all to follow suit. If not, then thats what these here leg bands are for".

so would you breed from this bird or one that follows this bird? I mean if Kit masters/trigger birds roll by their own will wouldn't that mean we get a more individual performing kit or no? if we breed from the kitmasters

I'm not sure what best is anymore, I mean I would have 2 options, breeder from good kitting birds or breed from trigger birds.. confusing for me..

Best to best is different to most people. best to best for some might be rolling ability only, while others might see rolling and kitting as best, while others might look at the whole package including quality, depth, how it comes out of the roll,etc...
With that said, best to best will only be from the birds in YOUR loft. A trigger bird isnt something that your going to breed for. Your goal should be to breed for the total package from what you have to work with.
If your birds are of poor form and quality, then your best to best might not show anything close to the total package.
Your birds will perform without a trigger bird. There are those that have bred and flown such birds with great success, but your kit will do well, if they are from good quality breeders.

well I guess lol, in terms of depth I have birds that can balance eachother out but velocity is the main thing for me. Maybe I should breed from the middle kit birds huh?

Parlor,
unless you have bred the same family for years, and are aiming to breed for a specific trait, then I would continue to breed what ya have, and just cull the ones that aren't cutting the mustard. You could possibly use the culls for fosters instead of discarding them, if you need fosters. You could then pump out more to see where ya stand.

Hey PF,
Usually as the kit progresses one of the birds will step up into the role of leader. Sometimes you might have more than one trigger bird in a kit which can lead to good and bad things.
The kit might start waterfalling from being confused on who to follow.
The trigger birds could develop a pattern of working together and producing more breaks. Sometimes the triggers will switch out which usually leads to a longer period of time the kit actually works because the trigger isn`t frazzled from leading.Lots of things happen if you watch closely.
As a rule,as has been stated, just breed the birds with the whole package or as close as you can get to it.
