We leave ourselves open as soon as we put our birds up into the sky. They have left our property and are fair game as far as the law and the general opinion is concerned. It is the attitude that "hawks are supposed to eat pigeon" that prevails. We also have pigeons; a bird that many look upon with disdain. Our pest control industry has corrupted everybody's mind about them. It has been a cash cow for them to be paid to get rid of them. Thier shit is no more toxic than other animals, but if you hear the civilians talk you will hear a lot of perversion about the subject. Horses, dogs, cats and other animals are seen in a different light because of this. It will be difficult to get a change in attitude and as a consequence we will never see a change in the laws. We have to learn to do other things to lower the number of occurrances that we loose birds to the BOP. We have to get other organizations involved....Ducks Unlimited; Sierra Club; Audobon Society; etc, etc. We have to prove the BOP population has grown to the extent that is taking a toll on thier precious creatures as well. Then maybe we can get some protection for our "rats with feathers".
Instead us pigeon people stay too close to one another and we do not get involve with those in other organizations or get ourselves involved in them. The change has to come from within us and not expect to change the rest of the world. ---------- Nick
