"Guess what, Bobby and Sonny weren't convicted either, but both were gracious enough to step aside when asked. As it turned out, that was the right thing to do and I commend them for it. I just wish that some of our current leadership had that same gracious courtesy and respect for the members of this club rather than their own self interests at heart."
Gregg,
I just wanted to correct your statement above. Both Bobby and Sonny were asked to temporarily step down by the EC near the end of my RD term, at the end on 2005, for the good of the club. Both refused. My term ended, and the new EC took office in January of 2006. It is my understanding that the new EC then temporarily suspended them, while it followed the by-laws, in investigating a filed complaint, they never stepped down on their own. After the investigation was complete, the EC then decided on the final punishment, which Bobby appealed, as was his right.
As you can see, this was a long drawn out issue that caused much turmoil within the club. It is your, or anyone else's right to file a formal written complaint according to the by-laws. But, you can see that it will take many months to be decided, and by that time new officers will be elected and be in office. It is your right to file, but I feel it is too late for that. Wouldn't it be better to hold the EC's feet to the fire and make them work on positive PR, work to try to ease the member's fears and get everyone excited about the club again, work to get the Master Flyer points system all straightened out, and work to make this an organization to be proud of again? Let's move forward, it's the best, and ONLY way for the NBRC to go. The past is the past, let's all move forward and make the club better in the proccess!

Dave, Good point. There was no "gracious stepping aside" by either of the men in that situation. And bringing it up is a discredit to them both as they try to heal...quite literally. Bringing it up only looks like you just want to get even with the EC for rendering a decision that you did not like, Gregg. That was a different situation with different circumstances. And it is apparent that the Executive Comittees involved believed that an attack on a roller man is more serious than an attack on a BOP. And I believe that is a valid point of view. Cliff

Dave, First off I apologize if my information was incorrect. I'll have to talk to one of my sources. But this is exactly why I took it directly to the president of the NBRC and appealed to his sense of what is right for the NBRC rather than what is right for the president of the NBRC. Filing of a formal complaint at this time would serve no purpose in that the presidents term would expire before any action could be completed. I also don't want to file on the president of the NBRC due to the fact that most of us in the club are relearning the rules and applying them to our own back yard. If after this scenario plays out and you are still tempted to play with fire, then you do so at your own risk. Most of this is an attempt to force the EC to do the right thing. The president did say that he would take my concerns up with the EC. It is the huge void of sound coming from the leadership of the NBRC that has me giving a serious thougth to running for the RD's job in my region. But I also have to be fair to my RD. I haven't given him the benefit of my ear reference this irritation that I am feeling at this time. I did send him a copy of the post that I sent to the president of the NBRC requesting his resignation. He did not answer my post. I should have bombarded him with many of these posts up to now except that five inch incision in my back decided that I needed a bit more rest than I thought I needed. So I didn't get a lot done over the past forty eight hours except what you have seen here. I agree that we need to hold the EC's feet to the fire. One of the first priorities that I have slated for next week is to go over the Constitution of the NBRC in quite some detail. I want to know how the system works in every facet. Easing the members fears should have been one of the top priorities of the EC. Letting them know what was expected of them as members, giving them insight to the problems facing the NBRC at this time, advising them what the EC plans were and how they were going to be implemented. This silence is deafening. My greatest fear is that the conspiracy charge comes down on the NBRC and then it ceases to exist. Does anybody on the EC have a clue as to what that means. The years of building this club by hundreds and hundreds of members, tens and tens of local clubs all affiliated with the NBRC. Perhaps I have been very busy with my life, but not so much so that I don't know and understand the sacrifices that many that went before and many that are around today put forth into making the NBRC the club that it was a short while ago. I don't know for sure (but I darn well have some good suspicions) who is pulling the strings with the NBRC upper echelons but I personally feel they blew this one big time. I will do whatever I can to help make this club work now and in the future, that is aside from shutting up. That I will not do. My concern is that there will be a club. Starting over would be a monumental task, but I would be willing to help in that regard also. Any one who doesn't belong to the NBRC is missing out on the best bulletins the roller hobby has seen over the almost thirty eight years that I have been around rollers. We never knew what National Flys were, it was all on a local or small regional basis. So, yes, Dave, I know that I am making some unhappy. But I feel strongly about this and will continue to work for the NBRC or it's successor. But I will not let anyone dictate silence. If they remain silent then they are condemning themselves. Gregg.

That's a huge assumption on your part Cliff, and a wrong one. I wanted no part of taking sides on that situation. What I did feel was that it should have never become a national issue with the NBRC. I personally spoke with people behind the scenes on that situation and tried to keep it a regional issue. That did not work, did it? Gregg.

Tony, My apologies. I just went back and found your posting policy. I was in violation and just edited my post today. Gregg. And a few others.
