It has been 5 days since I flew my oldest kit, due to them flying low, and a very short time. I decided, after communicating with a local flier, to lock them up for a few days to rebild their energy, due to flying them twice a day since they have been on the wing.... The weather was nice, with heavy humidity as usual, but released anyways...
They busted out as soon as the door opened. After a few low circles, they elevated to 400 feet or so. The first 15 minutes was a show that I would pay to watch. The birds worked their butts off.
During the first few minutes of working, the sky was littered with feathers..Feathers falling down from every direction, and every "color".
11 of the 24 birds landed around the 20 minute mark, with the remainder flying 50 minutes...
All in all, this was a fly that tickeled my fancy!

I'll have to try that, Jerry. I have a couple of kits doing the same thing...while others are going up no problem...go figure! Five days, you say?? My birds are heavy in molt also doing the raining feathers thing...but I pulled another 20 ft. spinner for the '07 A-kit this morning! Cliff

Paul, The more I thought about the concept, the more it made since. I know when I am exhausted, a full nights rest always helps. They worked better yesterday than they have for a month. I am going to fly them saturday early and see if they all fly the same amount of time. during their lockdown phase, I fed them 1/2 can more than I was feeding at 1 1/2 cans for 24 birds, now it is 2 cans and that may have contributed to the better performance also..That might be with my family tho.
I have 3 different kits flying, and the older ones were the only ones giving me trouble. I have a week old round now and some on eggs again, then I am done..Good luck if ya try to rest idea..I know it helped mine.
Kel, The car stays running from the time I go on duty, 10 hours later when I get off..It is always cool in there...Kinda stinks when I have to work an accident in the heat..The asphalt is hot, and the extra 40 pounds of gear doesnt help, and that bullet proof vest, it's a killer..LOL
