Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forum and somewhat new to the hobby. Not sure if any of you have seen this, but in Hollywood, CA they will be feeding pigeons a feed that is used as a birth control to downsize the overpopulation of pigeons. I thought it was interesting... Hopefully my birds don't come in contact with this feed...

If two pigeons; a hen and a cock do mate will there be eggs laid(un-fertile eggs) or will there be no eggs? If it would prevent eggs from being laid I would like to have some for my kit birds.

Jim,

I at times split them up and there are other flyers who do. I wonder about "kit sensitivity" that we heard about from the lofts of Heine. Will spliting them up affect it adversly?.......(thinking out loud)

In Winter my stock hens never lay, but as the days become longer and they get more light their hormones kick in, and they will drop eggs. Whatcha doin over there? LOL

After breeding season is over every birds 2 to 3 years old go back in the kit boxs Cocks and hens. And i find that if you dont over feed them and keep them a little on the down side, They will not lay any eggs . By the time i stop flying them its too cold for them any way.
I fly all my breeders under the age of 4 takes 2 to 3 weeks to get them back in shape,

nick

If i dont take my birds out of the breeding loft they will lay all winter. And the good tight setting pairs will raise young all year round.
