I was told about a year ago, that it works for canker but never used it! I do have a friend that swears by it for helping a hen with fertility! I think he was the one that said it works for canker also, can't remember for sure!
Last year, I used fish zole, only had about 30% success rate! This year I used apple cider vinager a lot and had very little problem, when I did, I used 4n1 and had good results! Good luck, broooo!
Let us know if you try the iodine and the results! ---------- Val

cracked corn can cause a small cut and canker can show up in the wound. I don't recommend Cracked corn. Unhealthy condition, water feed wet floors etc can contribute to canker. Some familys are susceptible more than other to canker. I am sure it is the blood of these families. Clean conditions is one of the best preventive methods. I think that Iodine can be very helpful and also harmful. same as Clorox For bird with canker clean out the canker in the sore and take a cotton swab and dab a little iodine on the open sore. this should clear up the sore. Canker is caused many ways and I not sure all the ways. there are pills out there for canker. I am sure Tony has some. There also is a rectal canker. Medication is about the only way to treat this. If you young are getting canker I would look at the parents as carriers of canker. It is real easy to eliminate from your birds. I know I have not had any canker in years. Any ways this is my observation right or wrong Iodine can be used for treatment of eggs that start to hatch but never come out. I give this to the breeders about 2 weeks before mating the birds. Tony has the right kind of Iodine to use and the amound usually 3 or 4 drops in a gallon of water. they say not to use TINTURE of Iodine. Although I used it for years and never had any problems.
