Parlor Flying on 1 wing ie left wing every time time your birds fly will not stimulate the birds into the roll as much as it would when your kit changes direction to right wing. I to get so frustrated when watching my kit of birds flying on 1 wing. An ideal pattern for flying would be figure of 8 but i only seem to get this pattern every now and then. Can anyone add anything to this to help Parlor out??? ---------- Regards W@yne UK

A kit in the right condition both physically and mentally will usually course the sky, turning both ways. As for a kit breaking only when they turn one way, I've seen it every year as it seems to be something particular in young birds. It is almost as if they are acting right handed or left handed. Usually if you don't let it become a set pattern every day for months, it will sort itself as long as there isn't a bird or birds controlling the kit. I had one young kit that got into flying on one wing every time flown. Drove me nuts. I boxed them up, took them a half mile down through the neighborhood and kicked them out. I watched them circle for a few moments, then circled heading towards home, but would break the circling to what looked like trying to fly straight. They made it to about a block from the house where they flew and flew in that damn circle until they almost screwed themselves into someone's backyard. They sat there, a block away just flying on that one wing. One by one they broke from the kit and came home. I did it every day for the next week and it eventually broke them of the habit.

Now that you got me Thinking on this, my kits and kits I have watched, always seam fly a counter clockwise pattern, unless the wind conditions are odd. And almost always roll on the up wind leg only. I did see a kit in the town of corona calif. While getting gas that was flying a figure 8 patter but did not roll much.

This is more precise information regarding young bird kits making left and right turns excessively. They can do this fault the entire amount of time they are in flight. The main reason is there are one or more birds causing the problem. They fly extremely fast to the front of the kit and turn the kit left or right. It can be only one bird that causes this problem and the majority of the time it is a cock. Take all birds out of your kit that cause this problem because they will never turn into a great scoring competion kit. You can put problem birds into another kit and maybe not havr any problem with them. Cull them if they continue this fault or anyother fault. All your responses have been very benefical in the sport.
