Hello to all,

I have built a double kit box 93"wide x 48 high x 36"deep
dividing it in the middle to make two boxes.
im down to putting the front face on it, and was wanting to find out what you guys find most usefull for the front of your kit boxes.

one large hinged door for each compartment ?
maybe add a second hinged door for releasing ?
or ????

thanks in advance for all your sugestions
mike Barry.

A door within a door. One large door hinged with another small trap door in center. Use plenty of hinges on large door.

Keep It Simple Stupid. It was a book I read Eons ago and I made it a required reading of all of my management staff. It is what you have to say to yourself when you take on projects..........you don't call people stupid....of course. It is a self-reference

Mike after building several Kit boxes with different types of doors and flying out of them I found the ones with two doors and two traps work best for me.

The reason is if you move birds around or just need to handle them you can open one door and prevent the birds from flying out, and by having two traps the birds learn to trap real fast .
check out the doors on my kit box on my website Freewebs.com/g1ruiz/ look onthe kit birds page or lofts

Hey Guys with the solid doors on kit boxes. Do you think the birds may overheat in this heatwave? Or do they get enough air threw the vents and wire floor? I was just thinking outloud because, I'm down to putting doors on my kit box then painting and I'm done....

I`m with George on this one. I built mine with the double doors. One door is 14 inchs wide and the other is 24. These do work well to keep the birds in while handleing and feeding. The larger door also has a smaller door cut into it with 1x1 wire for added ventilation on hot days and you dont have to open the doors at all to just look into the box. If you can find a picture of Adrian Gasperinnis kitboxs mine are almost identicle. I think the guy I modeled mine after took his idea from Adrian. And Adrian , sorry about the spelling of your name,...

I really got to learn to post pics on here... Butch

I designed my kit boxes doors to give the birds ventilation, sun light and darkness when I need to. Each door has a trap with Bobs on the top 1/3 of the door. The trap door is made out of blexy glass. The bottom 2/3 of the door is wire 1/2” gauge. Also, I made an insert out of wood that will cover the wire for darkness and at night for added security so that cats and wild animals don’t bother them. My kit boxes design is like a dog house with a V roof and covered with shingles. The reason for that design is to blend the kit boxes with the sheds in the backyard and the house in general.

Mike,
They like a little country and a little rock-n-roll..lol
They're not speakers they're 45 degree plastic roof jacks, used for venting pvc pipe out the top of houses......
