i don't know if this subject has been talked about. i'm new to the forum. but i have a very good hen that no longer lay's, she is a 99 hen. she is know about 8 years old... i once actually, saw another good hen of mine become egg bound. she laid a fatty matter... almost like chiken fat.. i first assumed she had the runs lol... but the i figured she lost ability to lay... damn... she never laid an egg again... my question, is there any remedies for this... or prevention measures... once a fellow roller man told me that a friend of his, had brewed up some vitamins... and would give it the hen and the hen would lay... i asked this idividual for proof but none was given.
do remedies exist?.... thanks

Rocky,

chances are she is done laying. Calcium might help if she isn;t getting enough.

If you do get her to lay again, don't split her up from her mate till she quits laying altogether.

Ken

PS. When my best hen gets to be 6 years old, I will keep here breeding with the same mate till she quits.

Hens are born with a certian amount of egg producing cells. Once they reach that point; that is all they are going to lay no matter how healthy they are. It is also true with humans.

There are products that help make sure you get all of the production possible from a hen. Tony sells vitemins and minerals and a fertility suppliment. Visit the store and help the hen and help the site
