Well it finally happend a female peregrine showed up as i was flying my kelebeks 1st time ever she didnt come like a missile as if she was just curious. What i found unbelieveable was 1 of my kelebeks decided to follow her flying no more than 6 feet behind her why didnt she attack? My thoughts on this were she was'nt hungry but even when she isnt hungry she will have at least 1 stoop on the rollers. Share your views please.

Steve O

I once had that happen to me and I just thought that the Roller thought it was safer to be behind the Devil then to face it.

Sometimes I think our birds are dumber than we give them credit for. I have seen a small Coopers drift into a kit without any reaction from the birds and just sort of reach out and take one....like the rollers were just oblivious. I vote for stupid....not balls of steel.

The same thing happened with me Cliff but for my luck he wasn't able to reach and grab one. Although, one roller above the hawk tried to spin but held itself back when she realized who was below her. I thought the birds were stupid at the time but for some reason they were not afraid of him like other times when they get spooked easily from the sight of Bop.

Steve, last year when i was flying the kit late in the evening to avoid the pere's, several times the bops came round and followed the birds but never touched them ,probably they were full of food and were just looking out of habit,my mate in brum now has rockets at the ready in his back yard,he dont fire them when the bops are about ??, but sometimes they are sharing the same space lol, jim.

had this occur the other day the kit had been flying for about twenty minutes with no sign of a falcon birds were flying to the east of my house then i noticed a big hawk drifting in the thermals to the west of me for some reason the birds flew over towards it like he mesmerised them or something i was looking into the sun so i dont no if the birds didnt see him either but they flew straight into him and bang he took one with no fuss. then the rest of them just flew calmly back over to flying above my house like nothing happened.cheers trev
