If you have to lockdown YB's before they start rolling do you feel it affects there future performance?----------

It affects some birds performance but not all. That is based on my experiance when I done it the last couple of years.

Nope. BUT, I always make sure they are kitting tight and flying the time before that. This part is crucial. Otherwise it is a lost cause. It is next to impossible to get them to develop or even fly correctly after a long lockdown.

Good birds have the roll locked in the genes. Work them hard and feed them right when you start to fly again. Once you get them into shape the roll will be there.

I don't care how hard you work at screwing them up; you ain't going to get the roll out of them....sorry(LOL)

Some birds make it and some don't. It is alwasy better to keep birds flying at least every third day or so.

I have had birds that were good kit birds that had trouble coming back after nbeign locked up for three months. and they were alfready rolling.

I have other birds that were barely kitting that turned into to good rollers but sometimes it takes another 2-3 months of hard flying to bring it out.

the best thing to do is to breed as many as possible out of your best pairs in the window you have considering preds and get them rolling before locking down. That means fosters - at least 2 per breeing pair and preferably 3.

Then you can get 2 or 3 or 4 good kit scloser together and flying and rolling well before lock down. then come next WC qualifier, you have them working well.

just my opinion.
