I was flying my homers yesterday morning and out of no where came a coopers it was the first one I have ever seen
He materalized from now where and was in the middle of my birds who were resting in the big oak tree above my house.
He was so fast in his attack that he was on top of the birds before they could get out of the tree. Well since then I have gone to the ground will not be flying for a few weeks now and concentrateing of breeding Because I just got started with my rollers after today I will only have 3 homers and they have a new home already! I will start dealing with the BR's only after this week!

Just thought I would let you all know about my BOP experience. Oh yeah this is the first bird I have lost all summer!

The cooper in my area is still courting the song birds and left me alone thus far. I am sure once the weather chills a bit he will be courting my rollers. I will work around him when the time comes and fly the older birds. They can dodge him very well.

Tripp,
I figure that any bird "resting" in the tree is dead meat. Your birds should never sit in the trees. Fly land come straight into the loft. If they do not want to come in you are overfeeding. Do not let them pick this up as a habit.

Again... I must be dealing with a juvinel cooper. Last Sat morning I got my birds out after being locked down due to all the rain storms we've had. The first cooper I've seen since I moved out in the country flew right at my birds, As I watched in HORROR, thinking what a disaster this could be. But, much to my surprise he flew right thru the middle and didn't touch a single bird...WOW what a shock that was. But the funny part was he just kept flying past, right out of sight.. Now whats the chance of that happening to anyone again.
