Hey Nick, I agree with Ray, as long as it has two eyes and a pair of legs its okay with me. I do somewhat care about the body type. LOL

Sorry, feather-legs,grouse-legs,stocking-legged non of these take my fancy,i only keep clean legged birds,i think it goes back to visiting a very dirty loft in a brum council estate years ago, this guy had over a thousand birds in various lofts,(no curtains in his house or roof tiles lol)he was a sky robber we later found out,(someone who only lets his birds out to steal someone else's kit while in flight)but the condition of his lofts was terrible, wet windy, his birds all had meat balls on thier feet ,we left without buying anything,we felt sorry for the birds, jim uk.

Donny, ma-man! You said it and said it right! As long as THEY ROLL AND ROLL RIGHT!!! All the rest are just personal prejudices!
BTW: I don't mind any of the above traits as they do NOT make a roller a good'un or a cull........

I have Mason birds. Probably every second bird is either bull-eyed or has odd eyes. Performance-wise, it hasn't done Mr Mason any harm over the years. But, performance aside, I rather like the interesting variety of balds and badges on the perch - and these markings are the main reason for the shaded eyes.

Indifferent, really. It's what they do in the air that counts......but if I can't see that eye it is a hinderance in determining whether or not they qualify for the stock loft. But if they perform right, I 'll accept any of the above traits. YITS, Cliff

I use to be picky about all the things that were described and i still am to a point. But the bottom line is what they can do in the air. I have clean legged families and booted families. Some of clean legged families shell out clean legs and feather booted birds. I usually put the clean leg birds back to the clean legs and they tend to breed more clean leg birds. I have a pure feather footed or booted family that only shell out the same. Then i have some families that are strickly clean legged. The old mealy bar and lavender stock are the ones that carry clean leg, grouse leg,and feather legs and toes and these can be called booted. Mating birds together with lot of white on the head has a tendency to cause odd eyes, bull eyes,or cracked eyes./I have bred odd eyes and bull eyed birds that have been cosidered hi-velosity spinners and possibly champions. Ken Billings and many roller fanciers have seen birds of this discription in my kits from the sixtees to the present day. These birds are bred strickly to clean eyed birds and the biggest majority of the young are clean eyed specimens. Yours in the sport,RAY

I don't like any of these traits, but I have them and many are good solid rollers. I am starting to get more of them and it has me re-thinking my breeder loft pairings. I consider myself indifferent; but a concern indifferent would probably be more accurate.
