canspinners, You might wish to consider adding a few extra bars to support shelves when the box is turned up on end. I had planned to use the flypen as a breeding pen in the season. With the addition of a plywood back a few shelves to go on the supports that are visible when you look closely at the bottom of my flypen, presto, instant three compartment brood pen. Just a thought, you might not need the extra, but then again you just might? multi-tasking!!

Hey Mike, You are more then welcome to use any or all of my ideas. Not so evident in the pictures are the pull out trays. Each side has a pull out tray that is filled with play sand. When it is raining the overhang in the front allows me to clean without getting wet!;-) The overhang in the back is 12 inchs deep and provides protection for the squeeks form B.O.P.'s.The floor is of welded wire in two sections that will come out of the front door. I remove them, spray to soak, scrape perches, sift the sand with a kitchen strainer and everything back in place in less then twenty minutes for both sides. I would change the pull out trays to the front in retrospect. I was asked to post a few pictures of the inside trays and wire floor by a friend back channel. I will if weather permits tomorrow. I lost my guard dog to cancer, but have a new buddy and will post his pic. as well. Thom

Thanks 530flyer. Ralph, I'm sorry for your loss. Our dogs become part of the family and are sorely missed. I have a new guard-herd partner. Sam, is a Great Pyrenees his father weighs 150 lbs. and his mother 130. He is 16 weeks and 46 lbs. he goes to the loft with me every evening and is very gentle with the birds.

Pararoller, It's not any better where I live. Thieves are a problem everywhere. My last dog saved us from becoming a target and I hope so will this one. Anyone foolish enough to break in with a 150 lb. herd dog is just too dumb. This pup came from a working farm were his parents are generational herders. His breed is independent enough to access the threat and act accordingly, yet he also will bond with my birds as his own flock. Even now he is constantly on guard when any stranger walks by the property but accepts people we introduce him to. Take care. Thom

S.D., Here are a few pictures of the interior, the first will show only half of the welded wire floor for clarity.
Next is the door to the kit box for release and the welded wire front door.
Last, is floor in ready for the birds.
I hope this helps. "Semper Fi" Thom

Ralph, They are dog crate welded wire floors, with a sand filled clean out box. You can order the welded wire floors from almost any place that sells dog crates and they are fairly cheap. They are also coated with plastic and come clean just with a spraying from a garden hose, no muss, no fuss. Thom
