Hey All, I love birds but I never liked Starlings that is until today. My young bird kit was at about two hundred feet and kitting well. Then a pair of Red-tail hawks were over top of them and circling, ready to drop into them. My heart fell like a stone. Then like miniture fighter planes a flock of Starlings swarmed around the B.O.P. and started driving them away. No attack happened and I can't say for 100% that it would have, but I like Starlings a lot more today then yesterday!
From high to low and back in under ten seconds!

Hay Thom, You just never know-I have had barn swallows go after my birds a couple of times.Once I had a crow go at them. Usually I love it when the crows are around they chase off the BOP.I have not had many attacks--I wonder If its because my mulch pile has nice treats from the kitchen--and the crows stop by about once a day to have alittle snack?Lol! Hey Fr. Mike, I like to bake a lot so I always have plenty of scrape bread for the crows. I have a two nest family about 100 yards from my yard and the crows come daily. I simply got lucky today! I thought I was watching a recreation of a WW2 dogfight! The starlings went after the red-tails like fighter planes after bombers! I called my young birds down with the rattle and watched over them until the trapped. I'm going to mix up my fly times so the B.O.P.'s can't lock in.

Thom, All you can really do is to keep them(BOP) guessing. I have had my first try at my birds since april. Two goshawks and one inexperinced cooper. NO kills--but I am watching for the death hawks--It wont be long! Fr. Mike
