16 I call him the teenager, excellent cock bird and yes he was bred by Jerry Higgins I got him from Johnny
Smith. I have been using the teenager as my foundation cock I dont have him anymore, he went to another loft and the new owner loves him. (worm)

All ways like them more in the air but ground photos are just a plus. Thanks for sharing. Really nice shooting!
For some reason, I am not a big fan of Rec. Reds. Just never had many birds of that color that lasted. Seem to fall apart as time went on. Hope you the best with yours.

Thor,
It must be the family of birds your breeding out of.
The res reds they are showing have a history of being real good birds and hold up well.

Thor, it all depends on what family you are breeding out of and not the color! My reds hold.

I am not saying there are no quality Rec. Reds out there. From what I have flown from my family, they just fall apart - as to rolling down or becoming bumpers or will just refuse to kit after the first year. It is rare that one will make the cut. This year I bred 3 Rec. Reds from my family and 1 from some Ouellette based kit birds. I will have to see how these do. With these numbers, it is pretty simple to see why I don't have a high turn out from that color vs say 15 Blue Checks bred or 15 Ash Reds bred or 10 Blacks bred or etc.
The rec. reds I have bred start out very good as to quality of roll and velocity but hardly will hold it thru past the 1 year mark. They seem to have some color issues.
I like any birds that can roll and hold its own regardless of color. Just wished my Rec. Reds would turn out more.

That's odd. My recessive reds hold up just fine. Again, it may be an attribute that holds true only in your family.
