I'm not a jaconette guy, so I know very little. The guy that started this family was Richard Jaconette (sp)!As far the best bird, I'm sure that depends on who your talking to. I think the "black rain" hen was one of the most seeked after bloodslines in this family! ---------- Val

Hardtime - I am not a Jaconette guy either but I am from that era and much of the documented evidence shows that Richards birds were from Richard Espinoza, Dave Sanchez, Jerry Lynn and a Niebel hen that went back to Bruce Coopers birds. This documnetation is firm but the Perkins connection is vague.

Hardtime - What else do you want to know? Richard Jaconnette was a great breeder and his birds are all over the United States. In fact, there are probably more individuals across the nation that have his strain than any other right now. These birds go back to hard core Pensom based pigeons from the individuals I mentioned and there is a lot of documentation to prove it.

I was on the phone with Abel and Jerry today and I had asked a simular question, my question was actually on Rusty, he said if I remember correctly, that Jaconette got some birds from Jerry Lynn, Dave Sanchez and Richard Espinoza, and that they got birds from Houghton. I could be wrong but I know that Houghton's name came up as to where the birds came from. ---------- Efren Lopez SGVS http://lopezloft22.bravehost.com/

The last time I saw Rusty, I gave Him to Dave Goss about 18 years ago. He was old then, I was leting Him fly around the house with the young birds. Dave saw Him and said, He wanted Him, So I gave it to Him............ CRS 76 1765 red spangle, I also owned His nest mate CRS 76 1766 blue check self both bred by Richard Espinoza. I also owned the mother red spangle 1501. I believe bred by Dave Sanchez..................

I saw Rusty and two sisters in Dave Sanchez backyard in judging cages. Dave said R.J. bought them and was coming after them that day. Richard told me some of his stock was purchased back East and the rest in California. Richard competed with his stock in San Dieago for many years. Then he sold rollers to some L.A. fanciers and they won several flys. The L.A. roller fanciers were upset because they said the Richard Jackonette birds lacked the proper wing style that a quality roller required. When the Jaconette family was flown in central and northern California the depth and quality factor was in the rules. Some of the Jackonette birds were good quality stock with good style and quality. But many of the birds showed x-wing style and werent good enough to score. There was a large amount of rooldowns the first year they were flown. There were lot of Jackonette birds stocked less one year old and this led to more rolldowns. The roller fanciers from central and northern California purchased stock from Joe Kiser, Joe Borges and Ray Sanchez to put more stability and depth in their Jaconette birds. There are lot of breeders in Misouri with simular problems with their Jackonette family. My stock has been mated to their birds with good results and lot of my stock is being bred pure. The lighter colored birds in the Jackonette family have proved to be the less quality stock. The old Jackonette family in southern California have been bred to other quality stock to improve their overall quality of performance. The trend today in many places is to stock the young less than eighteen months old. This could result and ruin lot of breeding stock throughout the world. I got rusty from Bill young from Oklahoma, Who got him from Jaconette. He had a Richard Espinoza name band on Him most of the Espinoza and phone # scratched off. I got Rusty's nest mate 1766 and mother 1501 from Ron Moden around 1986. The best birds I ever purchased in Calif. came from Norm McMury and Ron Moden. Most of the McMury birds I got were bred by Dave Sanchez or out of His stuff According to Norm.................AL LUNA........

You guys are coming on strong tonite..thank you..you are answering some longstanding questions. Another...did the original birds that Richard bred have hocked legs or muffed feet..a small signature of Smith. (not all but some)

Call me the sponge..Aprox. what year(s) did Richard start breeding his main line. I have Perkins coming into the pedigrees from 1972-about 1984...I see Sanchez and Espinoza mid 70's. Richard seemed to really crank it up in the very early 80's. BWK
