I have you birds scheduled to be shipped to me in a week or so. What do I need to have on hand to be prepared and do you flyers have suggestions on what to do to help the birds get over the stress of shipping and their new loft?

Good feed and water. They love blues music as well and you will need that piped in to get them through the dark time hours.
Keep them quiet and let them see you often. Get them in a place so they can look around at thier new surroundings. Talk to them and allow them to get use to your voice. It will take up to three weeks or more to settle them depending on thier age.
You can forgo the music.

Just have a dry, ventilated place to put them, whether it be a kitbox, breeder loft, old chicken coop, etc... Food and water would be nice also..
As far as a stress reliever goes, they will be fine with the above items.

Good loft, feed and water is a given, I wasn't sure whether a Pro-biotic is a good idea or not.
They will have to get used to the Zydeco and Cajun music Frenchie Burke, Joel Sonier and Doug Kershaw. It goes without saying the Marine Corps Hymn will be played and sung at reveillie.
By the way Nick it was probably the glare off the top of my head that caused your birds to be nervous, either that or they now a Cajun will eat anything!

Doctor Serpent,
The first thing you need is a place to isolate the birds for a least two weeks. Give them a PMV and Paratyphoid shot. Give each bird an Ideal Pill to help them through the stress and food/water. Having racing homers for the last 35 years has helped me a lot with learning about medications etc. If this does not work I know an old lady in Leonville Louisiana who can do Gris/Gris over the phone and fix the birds and whoever else you want fixed right up. Her name is Madame Edna Boudreaux Lopez :)

I will keep that in mind if Tante Choupi' can't help out. How do you know Leonville way out there in Calif.?
I'm from Gros Mamou!
I'm just starting out, Dr. Charlie Bush from Houma got me a few birds coming to play with until the Ruby Rollers get going.

Might have some 4 in 1 handy, just in case. And some bio-pro to add to the water to help keep them healthy.

Thanks for the info.
My real French stinks also Tripp, Cajun is quite different from textbook French. It talks and sounds alot easier, but I guess when it's in your blood it just comes out.
I hope the smae thing happens with the birds I have coming. Maybe they will do well what their kinfolk have done.

Coo in French, I need to talk to my birds of the hood, then black leather jackets must be a bad sign.
