Sorry guys for another dumb question but what is the difference between an American Roller vs a Birmingham Roller? Are Birminghams color pure and Americans not?

Ed,
American Rollers originated in England I'm pretty sure it's just a name folks in the US have tagged on their birds.Like I guess us Canucks could call our birds Canadian Rollers or the Aussies could call their birds Australian Rollers.Fireball Rollers is another name some people have attached to their birds.Maybe I'm wrong tho.Have been before so don't take my word as gospel,eh.

American Rollers fly higher and for much longer periods. They roll deeper, but with less frequency. They are a larger bird than the Birminghams. Thier coloration is similar to the Birmingham.

The late great Charlie Hobbs was a master breeder of the American Roller.

Nick

PS - Just a side note; the Birmingham is like a sprinter compared to the American Roller who will assend to almost out of sight and stay there most of the day.
