Up here in Canucklandia, the price of wheat went up from $11.87 per 70lb bag to $15.23 in just over 2 months. They say it is due to poor yield rates with the spring wheat harvest. ---------- Kelly

Glenn, I'm getting that here in Hawaii too.I saw a guy at the feed store the other day laying in to the supplier. The suppliers defense was anything using corn has gone up.Frankly the price has gone up $2 dollars a bag on wheat before the moult when I switched the flyers. Its a shame, can't help but think they have done a raise in pricing straight across the board, taking advantage of the corn thing....Aloha,Todd

The way I heard it was, yes there is a much larger demand for corn now that they are using it in ethenol fuel (supposedly going to clean our air and lessen our demand on foreign imports???????) so it cost more.
The farmers arn't no dummies, why plant wheat or maise or anything else when I can get top dollar raising corn now.
So by not raising the other grains and plants has made their cost go up as well as the supply on those items is much lower.
All that I can see that ethenol has done for the comsumers is give us a lube job!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, very touchy subject for me even before I got back into birds... We are getting ripped off by these oil companies/refiners. Some times I wonder how they sleep when folks are debating on buying gas or bread today....
Anyway, it is JMHO... Richard

Part of it is the trickle down from higher fuel prices. The other part is the ethanol frenzy. A lot of study needs to be done before it is lauded as the savior of the fuel dilema. The water corn needs to grow has to be pumped from the ground. Takes fuel to do it. Corn leaches a lot of nutrients from the soil and it has to be replaced with fertilizer which is normally a petroleum product. If global warming is a concern an ethanol plant emits as much if not more greenhouse gases than the cars it will fuel. Can you say kneejerk reaction? ---------- V99 Flippin`The Bird!

Feed has gone up big time and will continue because they (the farmers) are growing corn for the alcohol to put into our fuel for autos. Less other grain is being grown and the demand staying the same raises thoughs prices. You add that phenominum to greed and the price really jumps up.
