Due to my own stupidity; nievity; and crappy management my "Varsity" kit "DQ'd". The "Junior Varsity didn't do much better. I wasn't quite so stupid and nieve, but the same crappy management was applied to the Junior Varsity. Farrell Bussing and Eldon Chaney where guest in my home for the night and are the most accomidating people you can ever imagine. It was our pleasure to have them in our home.....I truly mean that. We handled most of my birds and talked for long hours about pigeons and the people we know and don't know....we had a great time and I hope to have more of the same again sometime.
I went with them to Sal Ortiz's place and for the first time in almost two years I had the luxery of having real Mexican food. It was a treat, man.....geesh it was so damn good I didn't want to leave. Mrs. Ortiz not only being a beautiful lady from California she was truly a fantastic cook; totally fantastic!
Sal knows his stuff about Rollers and I am glad to see him back into competition. He will be kicking butt, soon. He is an exeptionally generious man and very easy to be with. Even though we met for the first time it was like we were related. He had some bad luck with his "A" Team loosing all but 6 birds the Thursday before and of course he had to use lesser birds all of them primarily 2007 birds.
The weather at my place was simply miserable. More rain than I have ever saw since I have been living here. It also got cold; damb cold. But, that is just the luck of the draw and you have to be ready to put them up, regardless of what the weather is. That is no excuss for what my birds did......had nothing to do with the weather.
Jerry Holder called and left a message saying he did not do well. I am going to call him back here shortly and get the "skinney". Of couse Jerry always says his birds ain't worth a damn while he kicks your butt with them. He has some super fine birds and is a top notch flyer and a top notch guy.
I have to get my head out of my butt and practice what I preach.

Sorry to hear that Nick, It does sound like you had a great time though. And thats the best part of flying these crazy birds.
I do not know how many times I have ended up with a DQ. Most of them my fault. From under feeding to pulling the water, leaving birds in that are too hot, etc, etc, etc.
Your friend, Ray

Nick,
I find that your your own hardest critic. A tweak here a tweak there and BINGO your there. You have got to see what others are doing and will make any adjustments. My daddy always said that a smart man will see his faults, a dumb man blames everyone else.

I am flying tomorrow afternoon. Got em about as good as they get.
I gotta agree with Jerry Higgins on the feeding regimin, don`t do too much, works for me. I did put a balloon in the kitboxes, something I haven`t done before. They have a tendency to flatten out at about 12-14 minutes. With the feed I have been using and the balloon I hope to get a longer performance out of them. It is what it is.
