Hey Diamond, looking at the background on the pedigree/s to my "903" Ruby Roller foundation cock, he is 7 generations removed from the Pensom 514 hen, 5 generations from the 3757 cock.
Some of the names I read on the pedigrees are:
* Sal Estrada * Homer Corderre * Dave Sanchez * Hans Roettenbacher * Joe Houghton * Monty Nieble * W.H.Pensom * Richard Espinoza * Charlie Saldana * Bill Torres * Bruce Cooper * Chuck Zeller * J.LeRoy Smith * Dick Stephens * Stan Plona * Bob Scott
Not necessarily in that order. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Hey Ron, you know, I thought that dark check looked a little different from mine, this birds eyes are gravel and my dark checks have eyes that are orange or orange/yellow.
The black threw me too cause, last year Paul Fullerton told me he got a black self out of a pair of Ruby birds and that was a first, so I sorta figured you got something different too. (I did not remember you telling me that you had the Cooper stuff too, sorry)
As for me, this year, I have produced a few black selfs for the very first time after 13 or 14 years breeding this group. I kept one and man she was very deep and fast!
She recently got sick and died. Too bad, she was turning out to be a good roller into her 2nd fly season.
Last week I spoke with LeRon and "comparing" pedigrees, we found that the Ruby's have Bruce Cooper in the background.
LeRon, deals with the Bruce Cooper line exclusively from what I remember of our talk. Sounds like he has a very fine stud of pigeons.
Ron, it's nice to hear you are happy with both the Ruby's and LeRon's Bruce Cooper line. I did put you down for 2 lavendars out of that father-daughter mating from the hen that Paul had borrowed.
I was looking at that hen yesterday and just really like the expression and intensity she shows. I will pair her with her father this week. I anticipate some good spinners with them. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Bman,
We have one thing is common for shore, it Ruby's This is my first squib. :) He or She is my little pride and joy right now. This is there first bird. The other egg must not have gotten fertile the first time out. Better luck next time eh?
I hope with fingers crossed to have this bird flying in about 3 weeks or less.

How are they getting different colors of birds than you are accustomed to when most of yours are either red bar or red checks!!! Just wondering.

Hey Jay, shhhhhh....this is from the project I keep deep in the woods away from everyone! LOL
No, the white is there, white flights, badge, baldie, white sides. Look in Ruby photo gallery and you will see a baldie, red bar hen "5051", she was a deep tight roller, just an excellent bird. I used her for breeding many years, she is now a foster parent from time to time.
Actually, you will see white in a portion of my birds; kit birds and breeders.
There not all "dull" checks! LOL ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Thank you for the kind works, and a set of great birds!! I will keep you posted on how it does. Being the first, after it has proven itself, it might end up back in the breeding loft after one year.

Ron - You have a nice group of birds. The ones I sent you are all 100 percent Bruce Cooper and are heavey NBRC-63-3757 and JLS-53-23 on both sides. As Tony stated the Ruby's have some Bruce Cooper background and they are good looking pigeons. You will find that the Bruce Cooper family are early birds and not late as some of the other Pensom lines!
Tony - Nice birds!!!!

Hey Chai, I am a little flustered, when did you sell them and when and how did you determine the sexes?
I sent them out at the end of March 07. Just this month (October) those birds would have been only about 9 months old. I would still maintain the pink banded ones are hens...(of course I have been wrong before). ;-)
Plus, I wish you would have contacted me first because I would have been happy to have exchanged 2 cocks for 2 hens for you.
I offer that any time if there is a wrong sex bird. I do it at my cost. I would have been happy to do it.
I know you really like the Fireballs anyway... Well, peace man. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Hey Tony, Great looking birds! There expression screams they are loaded with roll. Your birds look to have a rounder forehead and shorter beak than some of the families I'm used to looking at.. Is this a trait you breed for, or is it just how the line has developed over the years? Or am I just seeing a trait that really isn't there? Distinct look in the Birds Tony, NICE.. KGB

Well Tony, i liked the Rubys a lot but it was hard for me to raised different stains together sooo i had to get rid of all the strains of birds that i had and stick to one strain...Sooo i stuck to my FB...Im a backyard flyer...If i was to fly in competion I'll stick to the Rubys because i like there body structures and they have what it takes to fly in competition...Maybe later down the road if i ever get into competion Tony, I'll know who to contact...I hope your not mad at me...Chai...Fly On...
