I am looking for two eyes; one on each side of the head. In that eye I am looking for the signs of good health and the shapness of intellegence.
Performance level will not be found there; you have to fly them to find the performance level. You will find that good rollers come in all shapes and color of eyes.

Buy a racing homer book concerning eye sign and youll learn all you want to know. I consider eye sign very important when breeding all variety of pigeons. The important thing to me is balance the entire pigeon from the bottom to the top. It would be benificial to study the roller breed with someone with lot of experience. There are lot of roller breeders that dont consider the eye sign important. Everyone has the opportunity to breed to their ideal roller. If they accomplish everything in the breed that is great. Study as much as you can to be succesfull in the breed. In the roller fancy,Ray

Bird's eye
I don't know much about eye sign; however, I have always preferred the orange or lemon yellow colored eyes. For some reason I have never liked the pearl or gravel colored eyes although I have some of course.
Do you think the color has anything to do with performance? I was once told if your birds were rolling too deep or control was an issue to add gravel or pearl colored eyes into your breeding program.
I know when I had birds before I had my share of roll downs.
