Milo,
My birds are heavy muffed Birmingham's and I guantee you they are 100% PURE.I enjoy hearing anything I can about muffs, because it is a part of the breed and is what I see in my loft every day.I know what you are trying to say,but a forum is a place to come to ask questions.Chances are you get several different answers to the same question. When you least expect it,you end up learning something,I have learned from all types of posters....Aloha,Todd

On a more serious note Milo i do know where you are coming from and agree with you.
Guys Tony supplys a great search system on this site.
Some guys bring up posts thats been up talked about time and time again just because they cant be arsed to try the search bar to see if they can find answers to topics before asking, Only to take up more unwanted room on Tonys site.

Milo,
I agree with most of what you said, but a few quotes strike me as odd..

one being the muffed comment... Pensom said at one time all Birmingham Rollers were Booted?

I will leave the rest of your post free of my comments.

"It really amazes me how these threads even get any play. I mean really. On a personal note, someone that asks such a question will not get my serious attention. It does not merit it."

c,honestly due you think there is anything to be gained by alienating some one regardless of there level of interest in the hobby? Are there so many fanciers that we can snubb those that don't meet our standards?

Just a honest question.

I understand where your coming from C.

BUT, at the same time, on certain threads, including the "crested" thread, there are alot of joking going on. If you look at the comments in that thread, there are but just a few serious comments.

Some of us, for whatever reason, have very little, if any joking ability about themselves. I can name a few off hand that are stuck with that title as I see it. That doesnt make them any lesser of a person, but they cant seem to see that life has it's funny times, and that upsets some when others make a funny comment.

I am not a serious guy. DONT GET ME WRONG, I can be as serious if not more so due to the nature of my professional career, but for the most part, I see the lighter side of things, and enjoy living that way.

I dont get along well with those that have little or no sense of humor..I have a name for those kind, but will spare the name..

Just remember, this is a PUBLIC forum, so you will get all kinds of people..Most are great beings!

Milo, Good post, I'll admit I get a little miffed when I see the heading of a post that looks interesting only to find a string of meaningless, coded, banter! It's not because I'm overly serious but like a lot of us, I'm peaking at the web, going to Tony's excellent site, looking to share enlightnening info and view pics -while at work, when I should be paying attention to same. No one is purposefully degrading newbies but we can even raise thier level of understanding this bird by guiding them to novice questions contained in the search pages and get them to expand thier world by listening to more involved questions left to those with a little more experience!
Just my humble opinion! Otis

Damn I didn’t know I was causing such a commotion on this topic I apologize if I upset some of you, but can someone get this guy a drink or paper bag I think he is hyperventilating (Don't get all sensitive either) I was looking at a book about Birmingham Rollers and saw some birds with crest, all I did was ask a question A SIMPLE QUESTION I’m new - what can I say.

The MUFF’s the MUFF’s the MUFF’s I have an old blood line I’m breeding and I wanted to know if anyone else had that same stuff that’s all I guess some of us don’t know what to talk about anymore (Don't get all sensitive either)

Milo, I think why there wern't many post to feeding for performace. Is That even the the top flyers get it messed up! Sure we all can post what we do but the same feeding, Tweaking don't work for everyone, or family. I didn't chim in as I don't have enough experience to give my advice. And even if I won The W/C or fall fly. The next kit acts different on feed than the last one. I feel there is know proven recipe for feeding for performnce. Sure you can make a big differance in a kit on how it's feed But I don't think there is any one big performance feeding systenm that a newbie or old pro. can go on day in and day out. JMOP! PS some things you keep to your self if you want to be on top!

I know what you mean guys it just kinda got me upset when I saw that my topics were the topic here in not such a good way.

I’ve raised different kinds of pigeons since I was about 12 years old off and on I had a few commies, fan tails, rollers a little bit of everything but I really got into rollers about three years ago, a lot of it is new to me I didn’t know about kit cages or the feed or any of that good pro stuff – you know what I mean.

Sorry about the drink and paper bag comment, but I see what you mean thanks for the input and criticism.

Milo,
I only post on here when I have the experience at hand with certain items. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. But I will express my opinion when I have experience with the topic. Now you might have hit on a clue there when you mentioned about experience! I see a lot of guys with a year or two under there belts pushing there ideas around. Either right or wrong there will be someone who will take it as the gospel. Or how some people can mix this and mix that and become the next World Cup Champion and there is people that will believe that too.

Or I got one for you and you probably heard this "My birds roll two to three times a minute at 30' to 40' depth" Come on give me a break!!!! I seen many kits across the USA and I haven't seen as many as most people claim. Two of those kits won the World Cup. And they wasn't that deep on the average. But somepeople hear others say this and they say there birds are just as good as the next guys. And they use the same phrase.

The new guy has a rough road ahead its not going to be roses but more like hurdles. With each one getting a little taller. There is so many factors involved in this that its so hard to mentioned all of them.

Now I know a few guys who try and help the new guy a lot. Some times there opinion comes across to hard and taken rude. But someone with 20 plus years experience means a lot when there still on top of the game. We need to gather all the information we can from them in our own way. Because without them its a rough row to hoe.

So I guess with this cyberspace those guys who have the experience is still out there. But somewhere that people will listen and respect them for there struggles.

Just an opinion of a person who has been down that road...

Milo,
Two more posts after this one hits the thread and you will be right up there with the "crest".
I get on here when I have the time. I am also a color breeder.(I'll bet we can hit forty posts on that subject.) What you will have to realize is that not everyone on the list takes everything exactly the way that you do. I've read some great posts from you. I appreciate some of your insights. But you will have to accept that while many come here to learn, many also come here for the camaderie of the group. Doesn't mean that they are dissing your views or what you think they should be doing. They are enjoying themselves and being a part of the group the best way that they know how. When they hit your level of competence, they will do better.
On the other hand, you did make some valid points. Hang in there, we know where you are coming from.

This is where the edit button is appreciated. Brian, just blew by most of the names while reading the thread. My apologies. Good to see you posting again. Hope things are working out for you and that your posting is an indication of same. Take care and God Bless.
Gregg.

Every one learns some thing new every day. No one knows all what there is about rollers. I learn more this year than all my life of having rollers, by talking to other members and looking at sites like this one.

Some questions might be silly to some, but for the person who ask the question not.

We all have one thing in common and we all love rollers.

You have 31 with this one Milo. So you don't have a problem with muffs right. I have a muff which I like a lot and it sure will spin like her sister soon. I don't breed to get muffs but I get them ones in a while.

Milo

I have one question bro why did you use my posts as the example for topic, I mean you guys seen that some of us have posted pictures and videos of dirt bikes Halloween costumes and other stuff and I don’t mind you know we all have family’s and other hobbies that we might want to share and enjoy with everyone I mean any roller guy is a friend of mine whether I’ve met you in person or by phone or on the site and hope to learn from you guys as much as I can but going back to my topics I was still talking about rollers whether there crosses or pure breed?

Lionel,
Sic'em. LOL. I don't think you were singled out by Milo intentionally. He had a bad day and wanted to get it off of his chest. Maybe he had a good day and still felt the need to sound off. Thing is, we are all human and are going to have days when we rip. We just have to remember that it is the idea that we are ripping, not the individual. I'm a color breeder and a fanatic for performance. That leaves me open to criticism. I accept it for what it is. I also defend my position pretty well and in many ways love a good fight that stays civil.
Roll with the punches. When you hit a public forum, anything that you say, any position that you take, any mistake that you make, can and will be pounced on by someone. It is not personal. When it is personal, the moderators will put an end to it.
The important part of this is to use it as a learning tool. I've had birds for fifty years, rollers for thirty nine and I am still learning. Oh, and I almost forgot one other thing, I tend to get a bit long winded. Smile.
Lay back and enjoy it.
Gregg.

Hector,
They call them opalusians. I've got all of the makings, just have to put them together. Not a bad idea. Let's see who can raise the prettiest spinner. We'll get KGB to judge them. Nick can be KGB's alternate. LOL.

Wow...I get busy at work for couple days and don't sign in to read psots and I miss allot. Why always I miss the biginning of a good comotion...My bad...

I don't have crested rollers but always liked them when I was a kid. I like muffs and I have them in my family but I don't mate two muffs together..not just yet. But I think they are cool.

Any way, Milo, I was not done with the "Feed for Performance" thread, I just got busy at work. You know it is the end of month and meetings with seanior management is the game now. But happy to say that I met my objectives for the month and didn't have to bend over.

This is not the good one, I only fly the ones that have not roll yet. The ones that come in to the roll I lock them after they reach 15-20 feet for March. I have learn my lesson before, and they always take your best ones very true.
