Pat66, my email is blazario@pacbell.net
scott, pensom bred a certain trait in the pensom rollers and he beleive the later developer was the better bird at that time, you can't tell me that we have bred that trait completely out of these birds, especially if you have birds close to what he had. i have birds one generation out of what plona bred. if you find that hard to beleive, i'm not going to try and convince you my friend. coyote

( pensom bred a certain trait in the pensom rollers and he beleive the later developer was the better bird at that time, ) this is the problem with trying to understand the context of what is read without understanding the birds- it isn't later developers,it is that they don't FINISH developing until later, which I find holds very true with my own birds. Toss the books and pedigrees in the closet and get out and fly and learn your pigeons, there is no other way, if a bird isn't producing can it regardless of the ped., if the birds are any good they will make thier own reputation. forget up close to some dead bird out of some dead guys loft, it doesn't mean squat except as a sales pitch. The goal is to keep it moveing foward and develope a line where there is some consistancy to making good ones in decent percentages. I am still wondering what the difference is between the comp bird and the so called ind ? And where are these ind. Flys ? ---------- Just my Opinion Scott

Scott, I agree,if a bird isn't producing it's a canner. If a bird rolls good and consistantly pulls the kit up into the heavens, its a canner.
Coyote,I have that same family of birds. With what you got from Dick, you should be able to work several sides of that family[Heat, early developing,speed,frequency,etc.}P.S.what happened to P.Cookie,is she still around?....Aloha,Todd

Hector I wasted a lot of time trying to get those Birds from Dick S. (rip) to roll.
I only got one good Bird and Coyote has it now.
The Birds I got from Dick were good looking Birds and were better for the show pen .

Interesting read guys. From both sides...
Coyote.. believe it not. I find that the further I breed from the originals, the higher the percentages of good birds. I two have had the luxury of picking up first generation Plona birds as well. The percentages I was seeing then, can't touch what I am seeing now. I am on my third leg of selecting my birds out of my air space. It has done wonders for my breeding program. I think you can only go so far with the originals. It is up to you to take them to the next level.
I saw what I like and now am breeding what I want more of. I believe this is only achieved if I move past the originals.
Take care my friend, Thor
P.S. I still owe you a videos of Brian's breeders. In there you will see birds bred by John White and Dick Nauer. There are a few in there that are first generation Plonas. Now that the weather is only pushing singles for highs, I'll have more time on hand. ---------- It's all about the friends we make :)

Thor - That is awesome that you are taking the Plona birds forward. You have to constantly improve for those qualities you desire. The birds should be a foundation and you build your house on a foundation. Great Thor and make two copies if you can?
