The Southwest Missouri Roller Association held a fly the second Saturday in October. Jerry Ledford was the first flyer to release his kit at nine oclock and it was slightly rainning. The kit consisted of twenty birds and the kitting was good the entire fly. They scored several quarter turns in medium to deep turns and the velosity was good. This was a young bird kit and many of the birds showed high x-wing but a few showed very good style. With somemore age they could improve in wing style. Jerry has some new stock birds that will definely help in the breeding department. His breeding loft and kit lofts are a credit to the roller breed. Jerry and his wife and daughter served donuts and refresments to everyone that attended the fly. We were fortunate to see his horses and dogs that are quality stock too. Jerry will be a very good competitor everytime he releases his kit. Spike Gilmore was the second flyer to release his kit and they looked simular to Jerrys kit. This kit scored more quarter turns with the same depth and quality. The reason being is that Jerry purchased stock from Spike along with some from Bill Roy that go back to my stock. This kit was well trainned and kitted good. The competition is getting better everyyear. The laidies served a very delicous meal with pastory and refreshments. They sure know how to keep us happy at every fly. The third flyer to release his kit was Joe Woodiel and they flew time but didnt score any turns. There was three birds perfoming the entire time the birds flew and they were frequent with good quality and depth. Joe is a new flyer and has a hard time getting his birds to fly time but he is getting better every fly. We wish him better luck in the future. The last flyer was Lloyd Lee and his kit was the most frequent kit in the first ten minutes but two out birds kept him from scoring any turns. The following ten minutes all the birds kitted marvelous and a few quarter turns were scored. The depth and style along with velosity was comparable to all the kits flown. It rainned hard before the fly but wasnt a problem during the fly. It was a wonderfull day indeed and another fly is scheduled the second Saturday of November. This will be the last fly of the year. Keep em flying, Ray

This is the schedule for the second Saturday of November. Bill Tomforde will fly first at nine oclock and Bill Roy will be flown second and the final flyer to fly will be Joe Higginbotham. The first flyer and last flyer live nearly one hundred fifty miles apart. This is the first time this has happened in a long time because two live in a different districk than the other. Three districks have been flying yearly but each districk only flys two times per year. This has to change in 2008 so each districk can fly more flys. The club cancelled the time i was scheduled to fly two times because of extreme heat and stormy weather. A new fly day wasnt scheduled for me alone therefore it kept me from competing this year. This month i was scheduled to fly but relatives from California visited and we attended shows in Branson,Missouri nearly everyday. Leaving at nine oclock in the morning and coming home at one in the morning left me just enough time to feed my cats, dogs and pigeons. There are two hawks killing my pigeons and they are still in the molt so its been a bad year for me. Im not flying next month because of all the problems that have occured but look forward to next year. Keep lookin up and keep em flying. Ray

Ruddy the majority of names you requested me to inform you about were well known fanciers. Some of them never rung a bell in my mind whatsoever. I met Han's in L.A. judging the NBRC show. I know he bred lot of blue-black checkerss with white feathers. Hon's must have bred some other colors but was not well known for them. Joe Houghton had the same stock including Richard Jaconnette and other prominent roller fanciers. I can pick them out in many lofts and they are good stock. My stock is in-bred and line-bred stock that goes back to the #514 and #183 stock that is illustrated in the William Bill Pensom book. The newer English stock go back to some other great breeders in England. ---------- "Crystal Palace Roller Lofts" _______(Ray Sanchez)_______
