ZUPPPPPPPPPP GUYZZZZZZZZZ...
I was wondering roller men that been in the hobby
10-20-30 yrs..would they be able to determine what was wrong with a bird..if a bird was sick?????????
Like canker,parathyroid/e-coli,coccidosis?????
to internal and external parasytes ??
And the symptoms of a bird?

Rudy, I have been in the hobby since I was twelve and I will tell you that I am not good at fixing sick pigeons I usually cull them out! (kit birds) now if a breeder goes down with something I am usually on the phone with the pigeon doctor Steve Smith!LOL, my buddy fixes them!

Does anyone who attended the convention in Illinois a few years ago remember the Veteranarian who spoke at the dinner? I have often thought about his name as I think he was in the area AND he is a pigeon breeder. He would be great to call with problem birds...

The droppings will tell you allot if you know what you are trying to figure out. I wrote 8 articles about the major deceases and sent them to Tony since April but he didn't post them. He must be mad at me(lol). If you want an electronic copy of those articles, just give me your email and I will send them to you. I think I have it from Jim Sherwood email. Foys advertises that you can send in a sample of the droppings and they will analize it for you! Has anyone tried this?

I can spot things like Canker and treat it with a 4 in 1 powder that contains 20% Furaltadone and 7% Ronidazole.
I picked up some from Tony C a little while back.

When my birds get sick looking I give them an antibiotic approved by the FDA and manufactured by Pfizer.
The Rx in question is Terramycin (oxytetracycline HCI). This is a broad spectrum antibiotic for control and treatment of specific diseases in poultry, cattle swine, sheep and bees.
