Hey Guys, I was just wondering what you use to rid your birds of external parasites? I have been using some stuff I mixed up, but with it I have to do each bird at a time. I am going to order some bath salts from Tony. What else is good to use? Thanks....

Double R,
I use "Permectrin" to treat any lice or mites on the birds and the loft.
Follow directions on insert label for what concentrate to use for your application.
It works,(very well) and you can mix many gallons of this stuff as needed to add to both bath water or to spray birds and lofts.

If your able to get purge three , this product will keep lice off of your birds for about a month along with pigeon flies ,house flies, mosqitos, spiders, and other insects. you can put the can of purge in a automatic spray dispenser or spray lightly on the birds wings. the spray can goes along ways and really works good. Ask or inquire to Tony about this product.

I use Ivermectin pour on. Mix Ivermectin with Propylene Glycol pull the feathers back from back of the pigeons head put 1 or 2 drops to bare skin. This is by far the best stuff i have ever used it not only rids all parasites but eradicate worm. The reason you use Propylene Glycol is because it is oil based this will allow the Ivermectin to be absorbed into the bird at a slow rate. Propylene Glycol can be brought from any good chemist or pharmacy. ---------- Regards W@yne UK

Milo,
The powder will dilute in the water and they still drink it. I use the liquid form and don't harm them. If it does, they won't sell it or they would have a big warning label on the bottle unless they are looking for law suites.

Thanks Guys, I have a bottle of permethrin 10% that I bought for my wife's chickens. I think I'll give that a try. I sprayed it on her chickens and it got rid of the mites without hurting any of the chickens.

I dipped all my kit birds about a month ago in the permthrin, worked well! Just do it early on a warm day and let them dry well in the sun! Their still clean! Wished that I would have tried it back when the mosquitoes where eating them up! ---------- Val

Val, I thought about letting them take a bath in the permethrin but worried about them getting a drink of the water.
