Hey all,
I just got back from the Fires in Los Angeles area. Our Fire Engine was there for 15 days...and I was there for half the time...I took a crew to relieve the original crew.I just got back last night at 11pm...10hr drive..YUK!! I have enclosed some photos from the fires. I have more and will try and post them. We were stayed in Anahiem CA. when we were on our off time and we were staged at Prado CDF station in Chino CA....from there we got our assignments. Our Engine was at the "Witch" fire, "BuckWeed" Fire and the "Santiago" fire. Anyway...we all came home safe.
We were in a strike team...that consists of 5 fire Type 1 fire Engines, with 4 firefighters per Engine and one Chiefs unit with two strike team leaders and a Water Tender with two firefighters. The 5 Engines are from the Governors office. They have fire Engine placed throught the state and the Department were they are housed...man them when they are called...Our Engines were form UC Davis, El Darado County, South Placer, Woodbridge and Grass Valley...we also had a Water Tender from Contra Costa County.
Here is one of my Firefighters
Us by the Helitack Helicopter based at Prodo Staging (Chino CA)..I am in the beanie.
Our Strike team at the Hotel so we could rest..Our Engine is on the Left...OES 251
Our Engine with the rest of our strike team in Staging..waiting for an assignment..I am on the Left with some of my crew
Coming down the Grapevine on Interstate 5 on our way home...

Nice pics Paul. That 1st pic is a cool site to see. Just the glow in the backdrop show the intense heat that your exposed to. That "Witch" blaze sound like a bitch listening to the news reports... Glad ya got back in 1 piece.

LMAO Paul, I have been to many structure fires that have been intense trying to save this or that from burning, but I know my limitations!.. When I feel the heat hot enough to make me sweat, I run the other direction..LOL..Now, if it's a guy with a gun, knife, etc. I run in his direction!...WITH DOG IN FRONT!...Nice work Paul. ----------
