Seen has its winter and the birds arnt flying much how hard would it be to setup a online show were everyone posts a couple of birds and someone judges.
I no you cant hold the bird and inspect it but you can see condition and type.Just a bit of fun what do you think?

A good idea Ste seeing theres no flying going on for a lot of you guys and will past a little time.

Right guys i have spoken with Ste and they will be three categories

Best old bird cock any colour
Best old bird hen any colour
Best young bird any colour

Tony how about involving your moderators also in the judging like having a panel Tony, Nick, Val,
Are you guys up for a bit of fun and it will get us to see everyones birds ????

But before we post up these three seperate categories we need to see if our judges agree to pull this off.??

Well, I think this is a good idea, but lets think it through. Maybe we can have an entry fee and donate it to the "d fund"? Will we be judging picture taking skills or or the pigeon and if so, what parts of the pigeon? Limit the number of entries by one person, etc...

This could be fun!

Tony a great idea to raise money for the D fund.
Tony i think judging the pigeon in general as a whole would be best because not everyone on this site has the gift with the camera also some cameras are better quality than others so it would be unfair on that side. But i think we could raise some money from this.
Would we be able to pay entry by paypal.?
Anyway Tony could you take over and get this thing running you are the man to get this orgnised and thanks for the response.

Steve,
Good idea. And I like the d fund connection. I am trying to wrap up the current fund now so that no tax liabilities occur. But that will not stop us from continuing with the work for the original cause. There is a bit more in the works as Tony knows about but I can't speak to on this list until it is happening. Still in the planning stages and we all know that not everything that is planned actually happens.
But it is nice that you guys are thinking about the guys that suffered through their ordeal so that we could all learn a valuable lesson.
The following is a quote that I stole from someone else's email quite sometime ago and saved it. I think we can all relate to it reference the reason for the d fund.

By three methods we may learn wisdom:
First, by reflection, which is the noblest;
Second, by imitation, which is the easiest; and
Third, by experience, which is the bitterest.
-Confucius

I've never been one to learn to quickly so at this stage of my life I can relate to what Confucius is saying. Too bad he wasn't around to pound it into my thick head when I was a young man. The third is generally the way that I learned.

I'm wandering again. Great idea. I fully support it and will participate. I just have this problem with going to another service just so I can post pictures here. So I'll have to send mine along for Tony to post.

Thanks,
Gregg.

I think I will have the pictures sent to me and I will build a photo gallery, so all bird pictures will be of uniform size and easy to look at as thumbnails and then click on them to make it bigger.

I am thinking for starters it should really be a bird you have raised, there should be a profile shot, a close head shot with a good view of the eye, a picture of the wing being held out, ??? A description of the birds performance ??? What else might we want???

Tony,
We should assume the integrity of the fancier and that all birds entered are performing birds. After that, no description of the performance which would tend to sway the judges voting. This in reality is a pretty bird contest for type, conformation, feather, expression and whatever else can be determined from a photograph. So start shooting guys.
But I do like the idea of a profile shot, a head shot and that could include the eye or a seperate shot of the eye might be submitted.
Just my opinion.
Gregg.

Val,
The first time you posted an opinion on this board you became an expert to someone. I think your opinion is pretty sound. I figure when I post the picture of my blue check reduced self hen, I'll lose Nick's vote so I'll have to rely on you and Tony, only chance I'll have and I can already feel that slippin away. LOL.
You'll do just fine. I second your and Nick's nomination for judges. Tony is a shoo-in, it's his list so we have to let him judge or he'll take his football and go home. This is suppose to be fun so I'm warming up.
Later, past my bed time.
Gregg.

Bman Tony is working on this project at the moment so i think he will come up with fees and all that side of things. Greg also supports the show to raise funds for the Dfund so if we get enough people interested it will be a very worthwhile cause and it will benefit all the guys that has had to go through all the hard times of OHR

Flow with the times kid or you're gonna be left behind. Trains pulling outta the station...TOOT...TOOT!

What's wrong with some guys having fun and helping some families that might could use some help about Christmas time?

Don't be so narrow minded. seems like somewhere along the way others got to placing limits on your thinking, too bad, life is full of new and exciting things if you will be imaginative enough.

Lighten-up.

Hey Guys,
Just a bit of an update. Things stood very still with the fund for quite a while and now a few things are happening. We are over two grand, $2040.00. We were at $1940.00 so I did a donation to take it up and over two grand. I would like to increase that goal to three thousand dollars by the 7th of Dec so that I can send checks to some deserving individuals.
So I will encourage Tony to get this set up and let's get the show on the road.
I'll be taking some pictures with Nick in mind. Smile Nick.
Gregg.

I seen where they gave Juan Navarro 90 days to pay 10 grand to the fads and 15 grand to the audobon society. He needs help soon. Is there any way to get this going. Tony, I know I`ll prpobably get moderated for this, and I appologise in advance, but how about we also offer some of the birds in the show up for auction and donate that to the fund as well. Not manditory, but if a guy want to offer them he can. A one time deal. Again, Sorry... Just a thought. go ahead Val, hit me...

hey if you do need any judges i could help cause i am pretty experienced at judging birds for fun and for my club lawn shows just to help you all out and if you want to make it good you should have a young cock-old cock-young hen-old hen-color-best of breed and a few more which are not really needed but yeah makes it a better show and i just got back from another show and i took 1homers 1birmingham rollers and 1fantails

There is a possible auction in the making. If it takes off the Tony said he will let me post information on same here. Fact is that Tony is running a business here as you are all aware of. Let's not step on his tail and ask him to run the auction to the detriment of his business.
When and if it happens, I will be on here advising where and when you can submit birds and bid.
Appreciate your interest.
Gregg.
