Well I have found Cooperville. It's at my place when I fly the birds. Yup then are are lockdown again. I will NOT fly again till Dec. I swear on my birds graves. Nope I will NOT talk myself into flying them, even my poodle that thinks she is a bird dog, running to the loft and kitbox will NOT get me to open it up just for her to try playing with them. (She's the sheriff and owns the ground, if they land there she will chase then back on the roof, she loves playing with them. An they test her!)

Jim, Have the same situation up here in North Central Illinois. Flew twice this past week and lost a bird and had my friendly large lady chasing them at four hundred feet the second time. I'll be danged if I'm going to feed her. She needs to get skinny for the cold weather or at the least, find her way to Cooperville or further south. Gregg.

I watched Sal's rat terrier take a hawk off of one of his birds; ran back to the lofts with hawk feathers in his mouth like nothing had happened, just another day.
When one of his birds gets on the ground they pin them down; funny thing is the birds are not scared of the dogs. They respect the dogs, but do not fly away alarmed. They just get off the ground like the dogs want them to do.

Many many years ago when I lived in the country I had a black lab. Great dog worth more than I made in a year. How I got her is another story. But she had the gentlest mouth. Whenever I had a rolldown in the cornfield, she would always go in and find them for me. They would be wet from her mouth but unharmed. The corn was a great roll breaker. Would have taken me hours to locate a bird in that cornfield if I wasn't watching exactly where it came down. Even then it was a guessing game. Gregg.

This hawk likes to take his birds when they come it for a landing at the kitbox. Takes one out of the air or off the box, which scatters all the birds that have not trapped yet. This hawk is a smart one. If I'm hanging around the box she keeps away but is watching from a tree somewhere looking for the opportunity to strike.

h&f, I've seen them in McLean co. Actually flying nearby as I go down the interstate. You may have a fortunate location, if so, your the lucky one. Where are you at? Gregg.
