The first generation may be rolldowns and freaks, but what if you took the off spring and bred them back to the parents? Would the off spring from that pairing be better?
Then after you line breed more and more you get a better roller than you ever had before..............hmmm....well?

Nick back in the early sixetees in northern California Ace Hoggard mated his Parlor Rollers with his Birmingham Rollers. Once the young began to perform from a good higth they rolled down. They were rested until they were around three months and released. This gave them more maturity and they never rolled down again. A depth of ten foot was observed at first but then the depth was thirty to forty feet. All the crosses were x-wing with decent velosity and were good performers. Actually they were as good as many Rollers flown in competition today. The color was deroy and they were medium in size. It was fum watching them perform and they were nice looking birds. Ray

I tried it and they all resulted performing as a true russian roller, some sometimes would fly higher, but no matter what, rolldown and they're no good... ---------- Nrhoua (Doua) Xiong 4581 25th ave. sacramento C.A. 95820 http://freewebs.com/parlorrollers

Didn’t Pensom mention that in his book? If I remember right, he said that others had tried it in England; in order to improve the spinning ability of the Birmingham Roller. And came to the conclusion that the Parlors ability had improved, but the Rollers had remained the same.

This is somemore information pertaining to the crosses Ace Haggard bred. They were never crossed back to his Rollers or Parlors. It was just an experemental cross and not for color either. Ace bred and flew good stock in both breeds and was a faithfull pigeon man. Ace was born in Arkansas but lived in Modesto,California for many years. Ray

Nick, Have you ever heard of that English strain, some of the South Africans fliers are flying which are suppose have Parlors in their linage? Maybe a flier from there can fill us more in on that. To what I remember hearing, they are suppose to be very deep. I can see why if they really have Parlors in the back ground. Crosses breeds, who has the time... it is hard enough breeding from quality stock. Thor
