Very beautiful bird. Is this a rare combination? A friend of mine said that they were really hard to come by.

Her father is a Red Self and her mother a Blue Check Self. None in her pedigree are dun.

The father to that hen is carrying dilute. It's not rare at all.

Hi Ed,
Most of the roller guys I have hung around with call this a roller dun or Mahogany dun.. That dun above is a dilute dun of blue. Many of the old time roller guys had their own terms or labels for rollers colors. This is what most of the roller guys I have hung around call dun Ed,, KGB

I have been breeding dun,dun check and dun bar rollers for many years. The dilute dun can be bred in many color combinations but I started with selfs. The dun check can be called a silver dun check too. Then you can call a dun bar a silver dun bar also. I am also breeding self yellow and yellow check rollers. I have a beautifull yellow grizzle hen that will be mated to her sire and he is a red spread grizzle. Both are very typy in style and should look good in film. I bred a self yellow cock and self black bronze hen to start this family. Also a self yellow cream bar cock and self silver dun check hen. This family has Bill Pensoms Crystal Palace red mottle cock in their bacground. I also have some dun colored Rollers like Kenny described and ash red ribbin tail mahogany selfs. In the sport, Ray

Correct me if i'm wrong guys, but i thought Dun was the name given to the dilute of Black.Seems to me some of the birds posted also carry Red.

Efren isn't that hen usually refered to as Silver or the dilute of blue?

Don't think it's a Silver and never heard a bird called dilute of blue? But I'm no expert on color...

I'm no expert either.I just like to throw what i have learned out there and see what the more knowledgeable guys have to say about it.

Glad to hear you're happy with your line of birds and they are giving you results.

Hey Roland is that dunn check self off your navarro birds. I bred a handful of dunns like that when I was younger and loved the color. Hey Is juans number still 949-XXX-1024? Ive been trying to email him since last week when i spoke too you, but his email account has been full. Have to try and give him a ring, hope he still has two hens available!

Gary

btw: I recieved my addy bands last friday. They added another E to my last name LEE, should have be LE but nonetheless they turned out real nice. Hope yours turned out well.

Gary

The Dun hen is from Steve Agent pairs. She is really nice looking but I'm breeding her so she doesn't look very nice now.

Yes the number for Juan is the same one call him in the morning 8-9 is the best time to reach him. Last time I talk to him he told me he had a couple of birds. Do you have any of the Grizzle line from Juan? I like this ones a lot.

My bands came out ok only my phone number had a mistake and was corrected a 7 then change to 9 that was it.

Good Luck,

thats definitley a good looking bird. Thanks for the heads up on the calling time, ill be sure to call him soon. Hopefully he'll be able to help me out. I wasnt aware he had a grizzle line, I know he has a "white" line. Those two might be the same one. If so, Ive got one white red tick cock off that line and a black t-pattern w/f off his snowball hen. From what I hear they tend to throw out the deeper birds. I cant wait to get the new breeding season going. What are your percentages on keepers with the Navarro's?( I know your a hard on culling).
How did you go about fixing the bands. I am fine with the error, my last name still sounds the same even with an additional E, but if I can fix it without a hassle I might just do it.

The bands were fix by them, I only notice that there was a 7 bellow my 9.

I have only cull one bird from Navarro because he was weak. Out of two pairs that I bred first none, and I have around 8 young birds. The other birds are still young and I have not release them due to the bop. So far good, I like the type they have and the expression. They are good looking and fast birds.

I think the white birds are the same from the Grizzle line. They are from the White and brown spots Navarro bird, they are a little hot but not too hot. I have 3 hens and one cock out of that line. I breed them with the Blue checks selfs to bring down the depth and put more speed.
