Hey All, This might not be the most manly of manly things I have ever tried to do in my lifetime, but I feel it is important to me to try and express how I feel. Each evening after supper,(dinner)while my wife finishes the dishes I go out to the loft. I try to handle each bird at least once, every young bird, including the ones in the nest. Each breeder that is not sitting gets handled, the one on the nest I simply touch. perhaps it only comforts me but they seem to like it and look hurt if I omit anyone. The smell reminds me of my youth, simply clean birds, the silky feeling when in hand, and eye contact with each conpletes the ritual. Life is hard, I never expected it to be any other way but the peace and solitude I find in the loft, helps. Please do not misunderstand, I have a wonderful life, I simply wish to express how much a small ball of feathers adds to the contentment.

Very well put Thom....I thought I was the only guy who had thoughts like this. Guess I was mistaken. What a small world. And they say men can't express their feelings. Who are they kidding. They need to come and visit our forum. Thanks for your thoughts Thom ---------- Fly High and Roll On Paul

Nothing wierd about that I see it as therapy and at low cost. It is relaxing to turn on the lights to your loft at night or when it's dark to sit and watch them. Just like an aquarium.

I wait until everyone is in the bed then I venture to the loft and I usually handel everyone as well. The peace I get from this is unexplainable. When it is just and the sounds of their whistleing wings is quite tranquil brings a busy day of work and family to a nice close helps clear my mind as well. I have only been in the hobby for about 2 years now so I guess when I get older that is when the smell and sounds will take me back as well. Gotta Love it huh!!! ---------- Tripp Grassie

Hey All, Thank you for the understanding, I guess we are not so different at all. Looking at the pictures of functions posted from time to time we appear a diverse bunch and by some standards perhaps we are. Most would never understand how a little warm ball of feathers can affect a person unless you have the bug! Then it never truly leaves, it might go away for a time but sooner or later you will start dreaming of waterfall kits and deep spinners one more time.
Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of this.
