I was missing a youngster this morning. I later found him on the outside of my fence.

Bad Day

I release 12 birds yesterday that have not proven them self at around 7 in the morning. Not even been 20 seconds out a cooper came and almost took one, making them sky high. Ones they were sky high the female Peregrine diving out of no were took one in less than 2 minutes out. They drop diving and the cooper took one right when they landed on my roof. The rest Sky high again and two young peregrines came and chase one bird and grab it. 3 hours later some birds were coming in and another cooper came and chase the birds up. The Red Tail dive at the birds but was not lucky or either the other cooper. I'm in lock down the rest of year. I had just lock down 2 birds that were coming in nice before the fly, good thing I did that. I lost 2 birds that never came back I hope they come back.

You sure are lucky Rudy, been BOP free. Here is crazy with the bop the good thing was that I had lock down early all my good performers. The same thing happend last year but I lost all my good ones in one month. The worse month last year was on March. I don't have any birds from last year, my last 3 were taken yesterday.

Same here in northwest Montana. I've lost one bird to a hawk in 2 years. I try to fly at least 2 kits a day weather permitting. I've lost 3 birds to a resident great horned owl. It's bad news if a bird stays out at night here.

----------I thought i was lucky here in PR with the BOP, the Hawks are too slow for my birds here in fact sometime they fly next to them ,but the Falcon thats a different story he is so than fast ,the minute i let my Henderson baby's out, boom he grab one in the air it look like that pic you posted Nick but in the air .so fast that the birds didn't know what hit them and never broke up from the kit like if nothing happen i still can't believe it/

Nick...Sorry for your loss. I think all of us in the hobby can honestly say that we all can feel your pain and anger. But, we just gota keep on keep'en on with it. Maybe someday we'll have an answer to the BOP attacks.
