The badge is a type of marking in my eyes not a particular breed eg, wolverhampton tumbler ,some people are under the impression that the badge is a tumbler and different to the roller, maybe they are entitled to express their opinion ,you guys post pictures on here of badge marked brs,i accept that your posted badges are brs,if i mention my badges or a freinds i get bull---- about their ancestry, wayne you are suggesting that brs and badges are two different types you are wrong my friend, the wolverhampton tumbler (badge)is not what i breed, my birds are rollers and allways have been, well thats my hot air for tonight guys ,see you later, jim uk.

Jim, won't you post a picture of those badges so we can see what is in your mind. It would be a good basis for discussion. But without a picture for us to hone on, we will be all over the map and things will be lost in the translation.

I always thought a badge was any bird with a white marking about the head- nothing to do with the breed-- could be Tippler , tumbler, Roller etc. How about it ??? somebody clear me up . LOL

Spinner Jim - Here in the United States Bill Pensom imported competition badges that were red badges and black badges. These birds were not Birmingham’s but competition tumblers. The birds were brought over to show individuals that these short workers would beat anyone using kit competition turn rules. Also, they could not spin with high velocity as the Black Country rollers known as Pensoms here in the United States. The badges were called competition badges in those years. John McDougal got some and I know Hans Rottenbacher had some from Bill but got rid of them. Hans never used them in his family of birds. Is it possible that these are the badges that some are referring to?

What he’s trying to say is the badges are a different strain of Birmingham Roller. I guess Wayne told him they were tumblers.

Jim Your pigeons look like competition tumbler badges to me and always have done, Jim tell me the background of your birds and tell me where they originate from etc Pensom? Bill Barratt? Bob Brown? Ernie Stratford? Ron Adams? George Mason? Just some of the famous names from the Midland area i could go on. Each one of these flyers have a pedigree background from competition flying. Jim you seem a little confused buddy and i don't mean to be unkind i look at you as a friend. Please chase the history of your birds back to say 30 to 40 yrs ago and get a little insight from the background because if they are pure Birmingham rollers then no doubt you will go back to see at least one of the mentioned guys names there i have posted, Jim tell me something has your strain of Birmingham roller ever been flown in the All England Roller Club by anyone you aquired your strain from? Please also post some pictures of your badges again.
