is it possible for a person that has never flown in a competition and or that dont fly rollers just keeps them to judge a fly the reason i ask is i have heard that some clubs in Los Angeles area allow thier own members to judge their monthly club flys even though their club members have never flown in competitions and or never flown a kit in there own yard

The judges you are referring to may have years of experience judging, just not flying!

Hey Ray,

your right who cares. If a person is in a roller club they must have flown birds at one point or they don't have birds to fly at the time of the fly so they may be asked to judge. I don't know of any club that has members that have never flown rollers. Hey there goes hear say again.LOL
Hey kid I hope you ask this many questions in class. If you do then you should be alright. Are you learning from the questions that you ask or you just trying to stir the pot?LOL

You leting a friend judge would be fine but that would just show what level you are on in this sport. Most of us wants a judge that know what they are doing but then on the other how do you learn if you don't do it. Even with judges that know what they are doing can make mistakes,be loose or tight. As long as they are the same at everyone's house that what counts. This is why some times you have these high scores in the prelims but come finals and the scores may not be so high.I mean a win is win right? but can you take pride in it if you know deep down inside it's not legit? You can win your region and thats great but can you get it do when it counts is what every one wants to do once they get the chance. Hey kid do you fly? I see you have been asking alot questions about flying. You also talked about people making excuses so ,you must be a hard core flyer?

What IM saying Kid is this.
If a club wants to bring in a inexperienced judge, thats there business.

If you want to bring your friend over to judge your birds Kid, (thats if your flying any), I don't think anyone here on this list will care. IM sure it will be good practice for the both of you.

On a local level Kid sometimes half the battle in putting a fly together is getting a judge. As long as the guy is familliar with the way rollers are scored and is consistant throughout the fly then that is a good day flying pigeons. As far as just having a friend from school judge your birds thats always a good adea to get another persons point of view but the same thing applies. He should be familliar with the way rollers are judged otherwise you are only doing yourself and your birds an injustice.Fly them, have fun with them and enter as many competitions as you can and in a short time you will notice great improvements as long as the stock you have is able to show it.
