some people think a bird cant be flown for two years nowdays but i dont agree if you fly the bird from april to september then lock him up and fly him again next april to september then you have flown the bird out for two years during flying season avoiding the predator season

hey kid,
just a quick question...I fly my birds year round, most daily..With me flying 12 months, and your post refering 5 months of fly time, does that mean that my birds in 2 years would actually be considered having 5 years fly time?

yep, I am one of the few that can fly without getting abused. As far as winning the W/C, that isnt a goal of mine..My goal is to fly as much as possible, and to enjoy the company that comes with flying..Now, if the big win happens, I will be stoked!

Well Jerry, it is considered no matter how late a bird hatched in the season, once January rolls around the bird is called a yearling. Once the second January rolled around it is called Old bird. If you don't believe me then do your own research and you will find that I am correct. However, that is why I posted to the kid questioning him if he is what he claims he is because those questions are not a junior type of questions. Those are questions would be invoked by a master in this hobby to test fanciers claim of being experienced. I start to have doubt that the kid is a kid. If he can prove he is, then my hat is off to him because he would have shown me his extraordinary smarts in this hobby which it take some people a life time and still don't come close to his understandings. That is my take...

I been saying this all along Jay! The kid keeps going back and bringing up contraversial(sp) post! He is constantly stirring the pot! Thought everyone one was thinking that I was being too hard on him so I backed off and gave him some rope!

I work with kids all the time in FFA, LL football, and wrestling! All I ask is they show me the same respect that I show them and I will do anything for them!

I keep waiting, hoping that I am wrong! Like our young rollers, he will neither make the team or cull himself! Time will tell! JMO

Jay,
so your saying a late hatch, lets say october, is a year old in 3 months when it turns January? Or for those that breed year round, and have a hatch in December, and those are a year old in Jan.?,...Come on, how bout a little give and take here.

I would call their age as in how many months they actually are, until there are a true year old, then it doesn't matter.

Yes Jerry. You can have a bird that hatches in December 31st and once January 1st rolls in, this bird is called a yearling and is counted as 1 year old not 1 day old. The way pigeon terminology works is different from how we keep track of birthdays. Ask any experienced racing homer handlers and will tell you the exact same thing I am telling you.

So, when Pensom was referring to the two years, he did not elaborate further and turn was misunderstood by the masses of the roller pigeon world.

That question the kid asked was a trick question which led me to believe he is an imposter. With all due respect, I believe he is a wolf under the cover of sheep skin running amongst us. This question is usually asked by the most experienced pigeon handlers to spot people who claim they know it all.

I never attacked nor questioned the integrity of any individual or group of people on this site since I joined this site from its inception but I am a good judge of character. I am asking the kid to verify to us who he is. That is not too much to ask. Is it? Especially after the misfortunate incident with the BOP, we need to be vigilant of who is running amongst us. We don't need to jeopardize the integrity of this website.

Please DeadEndKid, verify yourself like everyone else on this site. That is not too much to ask.

Hey kid, so being a COP is a bad thing huh?....Hmmm, I beg to differ!

Jay, I am just being to political I guess... As far as the kid goes, he may well be an imposter, but if nothing is said to make others believe there has been a crime commited, does it affect us personally?..Nope, not 1 bit.

P.S...I think he is also.

Ok Dago Trejo Jr. No one said you are a rat or a cop. You were asked to identify yourself. We use this site to exchange ideas and for all to learn. Tell us more about yourself. What grade are you in! What is your interest in the hobby and let us know what family of birds you have, who got you in this hobby, how your friends think about you having pigeons, how many pigeons you have and so on. Also update the "whose who" post. And please, don't be bring controversial old posts back, we like them buried.

Maybe it was just a coincidence and asking good questions is admirable and I admire that in a youngster. I also appreciate your responses back and keeping your respect.

The Kid is legit, he has some good coaching, or mentoring occurring in his life. He is being made aware of the BS within the fancy.

Hopefully with all this learnin' he is also taught some diplomacy and social skills because he is not a police officer and does not have the power and authority it represents and so to me, he comes across as pushy and demanding which will turn off allot of people.

But that is his choice. I knew who his uncle was before I was informed by the uncle because I recognized the posting style! The fruit does not fall far from the tree! LOL

Ron,
Nothing at all wrong with economy.. As long as they get the job done, and makes a joyful day in the field, that is what it's all about.. I have hunted behind many Brits, and have seen some great ones, like any other breed....Now, The pointing lab fenom..Thats another story..LOL

Guys,
It was obvious to me he has been reading the archives like we told him and all the newbies to do. Then he learns a little something and asks un-newbie like questions and he is a "person of interest" all of a sudden?
How many old posts has he brought up from the last few years? I do remember at least one comment on at least someone was reading the archives.
Geez you guys make me laugh. Can`t see the forest for the trees. lol

If we stop judging people ,we be alright here, who cares if he is a cop or a rat we not doing anything illegal got nothing to hide,so why worry...let the kid be...remember the one who you think is a rat is a good man and the one you think is a good man is the rat..I don't care how a person think he can spot a impostor here,, remember we are behind a computer and anybody can play you..if there is no enemy inside the enemy out side can't do you no harm...
