List, how long before you cull out a bird that has kitting issues? Lets say the bird is done molting and is not weak!

I give my bird a week to smarten up.. first i check to see if he is afraid because the other birds are rolling too much for him,i put him in with a slower group, then i put him away alone for a couple of days like a punishment sometimes they smarten up when i do that. but if he does it after that its a bad gene i cull it ...

the 2nd time of doing it..Sometimes, I will wait til the 3rd outing, then if is still an outbird, he is culled, used as a foster, or eaten!

Non kitting issues should be dealt with rather swiftly. They are almost as contagious among a squeaker kits as PMV. Bad juju.
It doesn`t take long for an outbird to pull other birds from the kit. Then you have a bigger problem. Shift him to another kit for a few days then..... well you know.

Sal,
A friend of my sons comes home from college "Tulsa O.K" on the weekends. When he is here he always askes "do you have any of that sweet meat", meaning pigeon...If I have any culls, I keep them for him, and he, along with my son and a few others eat them..I have ate a few.. Tastes like chicken.

Sal i give them a chance when they are just learning to roll move them down a kit and see how they respond and then i will evaluate them maybe not enough food(slow eater) you know then i will let the predator try to straighten them out

For me it depends on the individual bird. If the bird is not causing the kit to break up I would probably give it a little more time. There is also the phase they go through.. the sort of teen age wild and crazy phase. If they get through it they can become good, active kit birds.
I give a little extra leniency to the birds that roll as soon as they get to the kit and then fly outside of it because they seem to be trying to get themselves together. Also, they really don't bother me at all if they are flying over the kit. But if they are flying through the kit or under it they gotta go...
And then there are times when they just look so good that I would give them an extra break..
What Steve says about the food is good too. Especially when it comes to overactive birds. They might not have enough energy to compete with the other birds for their groceries...and They'll stay stressed out.

Jerry, you remind me of Monty Neibel, I beleive I read that he to would eat his rollers! I have had a couple ask me to let them have the ones I did not want any more, I just did not think they would be that good!LOL

Velo, how long do you give them days or weeks or maybe month or two?

CSRA, thanks!
